Why Is The Media Acting Like We're Losing?

Right now we're controlling close to 75% of Iraq, we've been at war for 9 days & have lost a total of 15 American troops in combat (7 of which were killed during the fake surrender ploy) & I wouldn't be surprised if we're in Baghdad in a week or two. Yet a lot of the media is acting like this is almost a disaster.

To give you an idea of how we're doing - the first Gulf War consisted of 100 hours of bombing then another 6 weeks of ground wars & we had around 300 American casualties.

I think the media may have thought this would be a weekend job, but those in the White House knew this would take some time. I think all things considered, such as our commitment to their civilians (even at a detrement to our own soldiers' safety) & Saddam's exploitation of that commitment, I think we're doing pretty darn well.

I agree that we're doing very well.
Honestly, I have some serious concerns about the hornet's nest that we have disturbed, but I think we have done well in Iraq so far.

I think we are doing well and the plan is in action. I have learned not to listen to the media's analysis!

You do have your middle paragraph backward:
"To give you an idea of how we're doing - the first Gulf War consisted of 100 hours of bombing then another 6 weeks of ground wars & we had around 300 American casualties"

It was 5 or 6 weeks of bombing, then 100 hour ground war :p !
I am not sure how many of the casualties were from actual combat-will ask DH. I remember some friendly fire incidents in that war too :( . Not a lot from the ground war though. 2 or 3 in DH's Regiment

I believe some of the more "liberal" media would like nothing more than to gleefully report that we are losing the war... It's truly disgusting.

Disnee Dad Says.......................................This really makes me sick. We are doing what has never been done before.
In a way we are telling them what targets we plan to hit. Then some Sadman jr. takes a bazooka to his own people to blame it on us.
He has army killing his other army and civilians, and no word of protest? Useing children as shields?
Then we can't send the aid in fast enough because sadman wants to stop it? Why doesn't coffee unman get off his *** and do something about it, rather than cry in his beer which we no doubt provided.

And our media is a disgrace. One guy gets sick, and it's " heavy causalties among the coalition"

Two marines are killed and what do you hear, enormous causualties!!! Some of the "heavy firefights" are 300-500 Iraqi dead, 1 wounded American. This is fact. None of our own media care to report the facts, except fox news. Then they get blasted as bias! Heres how two different media would report the same thing.

ABC. There is an incredible fire fight at XXX, coalition forces are meeting heavy resistance, by pig farmers that ask to be left alone.

FOX. There were some minor skirmishes at XXX, a few hundred Iraqis appear to have been killed and one American was wounded. With a long supply line not heavily guarded, can we expect more of these attacks? And what can we do about it?

Seems fox bias is really true reporting, just the facts.

I think most of the media "Talking Heads" expected another 100 walkover like last time. Last time our mission was to chase SH out of Kuwait. All he had to do was run back across the border and declare himself the winner because he thumbed his nose at the Great Satan and managed to stay in power. This time the mission is to topple his regime. He knows his time is finally running out, he has nowhere to go but deeper into his bunker, so he and his thugs are fighting for their very survival. Of course it's going to be tougher this time out.

We have been sticking with Fox this week, find we cannot tolerate the others AT ALL! I think they get bored and start making up stuff  !

...telling O'Reilly that FOX was too patriotic!!! Gimme a break!
I'm only watching FOX too. I find our media is always loking to report in a negative spin. I don't like it.

If you have read my earlier posts, you know I agree that they aid the enemy when they post negative slants on the war. One more bold Iraqi can lead to one more coalition body bag. If they report that they Iraqi paramilitary is kidnapping families in the south to force men to fight, then the northern paramilitary will see that and do the same thing. It is horrible. Save the political slants when this is over. MEN AND WOMEN ARE BEING KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS MEDIA!!

I think we need to bring back the old world war 2 posters:

"Loose lips sink ships"

"Remember, the enemy is listening"

any others??

Too funny!

Did they forget:

Overextended supply lines?

Paramilitary/ iregulars?

Any reporter in Kuwait seen with a gas mask on? (I think they all want to be the next "Scud Stud")

I am sorry. I usually do not take a light-hearted view of this deadly situation. However, the media is getting so bad it is beginning to get silly.

I heard of one report where while a group of Marines were under small arms fire, the squad leader asked his men if they were ready to re-enlist...I guess the whole squard wound up laughing hysterically. Wonder what the Iraqis thought about that?? If our brave men and women can joke under fire, I quess we too can pause for a chuckle.

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS!!
