Why is the last week in April so busy?

We planned on going to Disney the last week of April. I checked the "unofficial" guide for when it would be the slowest in April and it said the last week. We just tried to get rooms at either the BC or the YC and they are all booked up. I saw someone elses thread which was a poll on when everyone was going in April and it seems everyone is going the last week. Would the "unofficial" guide be that off?
Also is there a better week in April? We have never been in April and want to avoid crowds as much as possible.
Thank you!!!!

Hi! Alot of schools in New York and other parts of the notheast are closed that week due to Passover/spring break. Not sure how it is elsewhere, though. Maybe that might make Disney somewhat busier?

As posted on another thread, schools in NJ and NY have Spring Break the last week of April. But, as someone who is planning on heading to DWD the last week of April, I don't think crowds are likely to be outrageous. I certainly haven't had any problem making PS's at the restaurants and times that I want, for instance.

Have you thought of trying early May? Crowds are also supposed to be low then. However, since Cindercelabration starts in early May, you may find more crowds than usual.

I was solo in WDW last year, the last week of April. I thought crowds were moderate. I think those particular resorts are sold out since EPCOT hosts the Flower and Garden Show at that time. I stayed at the WL as usual and felt right at home!

It is a really beautiful time to be there. Enjoy!

We were looking for an AAA discount that week & found limited availability. That was a while ago so I'm not sure what they have now.

Spring breaks are a little different this year, with Easter being so early.

We had no problems with AAA discounts. We ended up getting AKL pool view.
It does seem like a lot of people are going but there seem to be MANY rooms available still. :confused3

I just tried to add a night on (April 19th) at POFQ and was told all the Moderate resorts were booked so I couldn't add the night there....

The "unofficial" guide is just that....unofficial. The Disney company would never post information regarding crowds and attendance. Sometimes I wonder how often these writers visit. It seems they visit once, then write their books. Most of us are pretty good Disney experts. We go often with usually 5 or more week-long visits every year. I have seen the crowd patterns change alot just over the last couple of years. I stopped buying those books more than 10 years ago. With the internet, you are better informed.

There are several reasons why late April is busy. Flower and Garden, the locals trying to use their passes before black out season, school vacations, conventions, and this year, there are lots of folks either trying to avoid or be here for the kick off on 5/5/5. I'm here to celebrate. We arrive on April 29 and will be here until 5/14.

I was able to book a room at the Yacht club just yesterday for the weekend of April 29th for 2 nights and the Beach Club was also available as was a one bedroom at the Beach Club Villas so I would try again.

I was going to go April 29th but maybe I should go the weekend of April 15th instead due to spring breaks. When is everyone's Spring Break? Here in Naples Florida our kids have off the week prior to Easter and that is it.

Doodlebug- they still have many rooms available ( mods) on line so I would try again for the 19th. :)

Our kids spring break has also been moved this year to the last weeek in April.
