What's the deal with the Tangled popularity??? I mean, it's a nice movie and I DO like it, I'm just SUPER curious to why it was(and still is so)popular?! I'm not hating, I'm just wondering.:goodvibes

Maybe it's just because it's the newest princess movie? I found it to be OK only, not great.

For the girls, it's the hair.

For the adults, it isn't annoying like a lot of kid movies.

For me it's the fact that Rapunzel being a girl was the hero of the movie instead of the guy. No prince had to wake her up with true loves kiss, or get her voice back with love and a kiss. It's the same reason I like Beauty and Beast. In the end it's the chic that saves the guy. In Tangled, Rapunzel made things happen for herself. Despite her circumstances she made the best of what she had and when she got the opportunity she thought of a way to get out. Sure she had Flynn take her to see the lights but most of the time she was the one getting him out of trouble. It also helps that IMHO it's funny. I'm not picking on other Disney movies, I love them all, but Tangled is my fav.

So I have all boys so I'm the Tangled fan.

Personally, I love the modern disney princesses. I hated the whole, "wait for prince charming to rescue me" damsel in distress character. But I hate that in live action movies. I love the new movie Haywire because the lead character is a women who royally kicks backside.

Its not such a girly princess movie so little boys like it too. My 5 year old DS loves it!!!

This! :thumbsup2

I love Rapunzel's independence! Plus, that lantern scene makes me tear up every time. It's beautiful. :cloud9:

And I have to admit it's probably my son's second favorite Disney movie (Alladin being his first). Personally, I think he likes it because of the frying pan weaponry. I see him eyeing my cast iron skillet every now and then when his sister gets on his nerves.

She is independant and brave and crazy and she is REAL, and so cute.

:thumbsup2 Exactly!!! We all love it in my house!

We like it for all the reasons PPs have mentioned above as well as the music. It's Broadway style in many places and we love the big numbers in it! Just a super fun movie from start to finish for us...

And then of course, there are the Flynn Rider groupies- I've seen several on these boards ;)

It's the horse! That's what we liked...

Because that horse was laugh out loud, falling out of my chair funny. I loved that it was about the girl, but that horse...and everybody I have watched it with laughed too

It's one of only a handful of (non-Pixar) Disney animated films to rise above mediocrity in close to two decades. In fact, since "Lion King," you can count the number of films better than "meh" on one hand. I'd suggest "Tangled," "Lilo & Stitch" and "Princess and the Frog." "Bolt" was actually not too bad as well.

Interesting... three of those four were released after Lasseter took over Disney animation... coincidence? Nope.
