that I can find four million things I want if I have no money to spend, but the second I get a gift card, I can't seem to find anything? What causes this phenomenon? I received several gift cards for my birthday, and they're still in my purse. I've lost my urge to shop. HELP!

One is for the movies. One is for Borders. One is for Barnes and Noble. And the last one is for Starbucks (which I normally CRAVE).

To the OP: I apologize for turning your innocent question into my playground.

My real advice (for people not so easily amused as myself) would be to get some cookbooks! I love having new cookbooks. Or if you don't cook... how about a nice coffee table book of artwork, or a joke book? If all else fails, you could always get magazines.

Wow! I thought that was only my own hangup! I'm glad to see I'm not the only crazy one! That is a very strange phenomenon, but I agree, the second I get a gift card suddenly there is nothing in the stores that interest me.

I just read Water for Elephants. I read a lot, and this was one of the best books I've read in a long time.

Get that, a new Disney planning book, and a tall, nonfat, cinnamon latte. Some of us have not been in a Starbucks for 7 months.

That's my problem. I can spend $ in stores, but if it's a giftcard I want to make sure that it's used for something special, etc. I over-think it way too much.

That is also my problem. I have a GC for Kohls and when i went into the store, I thought that the pants were not a great deal. Then the shirt was too much. I had enough on the GC though.... Who knows....
