..That this year's CIN night was aweful.. :guilty:

I know it's for charity, but why couldn't they spring for good entairtainment! I've just watched part 2, and whilst part one was exactly much better it was downright lame! I am glad they broke last years record, but by the sound of things it was only just. They only just got up to £17,000,000 by the end of the night (They have done more, but unfortunately my Sky+ box cut out before I could see the end of it) and so it was a tight scrape to get in money.

There are so many reasons why I disliked it I have to list them:

  • The repetitiveness of Part 2. They repeated most of the things from part one, including the appeals. No, I don't want to see the BBC Newsreaders doing a James Bond thing again, it was rubbish the first time.
  • BBC Newsreaders doing a James Bond thing. Need I say more? (Also, doesn't that just prove my first point?)
  • Most of it was music acts. Last year everyone came and did lots of special things for CIN (Catherine Tate @ Eastenders, Dr. Who special and a lot more; I can't remember most of them) but this year all they did was get a lot of music to try and fill the night out. Why? Everyone knows the quickest way to a person's heart, and therefore their wallet is laughter.
  • The lame false advertisements (and they have done this twice in a row now). They advertised things such as Little Britian on there, but did I see Little Britian? NO. In fact, the only offer of LB in the whole show was to be backstage for one of their shows. Two Words: False Advertising.
  • No QI charity special on the main show. They got moved to BBC 2 for the night. Isn't the whole point of watching BBC 2 on nights like these because you want to get away from CIN?
  • Celebrity Scissorhands ended quickly. They ended with Sharon Osbourne's dog on a chair, and that was it. Lame! The only reason I didn't watch the show (other than I couldn't be bother to) was so that way I could see it on CIN night.
  • The emphasis on Radio stars being celebrities (I don't suppose it's their fault; everyone has been doing that lately). If I haven't heard of you (no pun intended) your not famous mate.
  • The charity appeals. Now, I am not against them using child cases to advertise their cause, but in most of them I had no clue about what they were giving money to. In fact, most of them were a case of "Everything's fine now. Can we have some more money anyway?"

I think that was it, but there could be more reasons. There were also some goofs:

  • On one of the music acts, a guiterist came on late.. :rotfl:
  • On the 2 pints of lager act, their microphones didn't work so they had to shout! :rotfl2:
  • On the same act, one of them slides a drink across the bar, and another person fails to catch it.
  • And again on the same act, they tried using the kind of trousers that rip straight off. One of theirs didn't and got caught around his ankles! :lmao:

However, despite all of this there was one good side. Emma Buntons song. Now, whilst I hate the fact she didn't make one up for CIN, she was good at singing it! I loved it, despite the fact the song is old now. I may even download it if I can one day.

Sorry for my long rant. I guess having given money to them I am now entitled to have an opinion now. Rant over..

Yeah thats really weird, I thought it was great last year, But this year seemed different :confused3

ITA! Every year we watch this and get into the spirit of things (this year DH raised over £250 by having a sponsored hair cut). However this year we ended up turning it off and going to bed because we were so bored that we were falling asleep! :confused3

I only watched the first few minutes when McFly came on. Looked ok but I'm glad I didn't have to watch 7 hours of it.

I felt that the singers/bands were on CiN only to promote their new songs...

I was out on Friday so only saw the cast from Wicked which I really enjoyed. Maybe the comedians are saving themselves for Comic Relief in March.
