Why is it being called a 'Terrorist Attack'?

Carol,
As far as we know Titus is probably not at camp Penn. He is a part of the 3rd regiment and I believe that camp is for the 1st regiment only. Not that this has kept us from worrying but I keep reassuring myself that he is probably fine.

Keli-
Glad to know that he is most likely in a different part of Kawait or at least a different camp. I am sure Ashli is beside herself.

Thank you for posting. I am sure you have a busy evening.

I hate to hear of any casualties, injuries, deaths of any of our troops. But this just sickens me, to think that one of our own doing this to his comrades. I am praying all the more for our troops.

When I heard the latest news I was filled with a mixture of both shock and relief.

The shock part is of course how could one US soldier do this to his own company. Beyond belief!

The relief part came because they at first thought the the security of the base had been broken. Nice to know at least that didn't happen.

Either way it is a terrible thing and I'm glad that none of the injuries seem to be life threatening.

My prayers, as always, are with all our men and women serving over there.

I feel exactly the opposite. Nothing could be worse than this being the work of one of our own. Our troops survive by trusting one another. We expect this type of thing from our enemies.

I understand that two of the injuries were serious, and one soldier has died since died. Thirteen to sixteen are injuried.

This is a tragic incident, and devastating when one of their own company does something like this. I cannot imagine what the families are going through right now--seeing everything on TV almost as it happens--sometimes we receive too much news.

Apparently the soldier being held is a Muslin American who had been advised he was not going to be allowed to go with his unit when they went into Iraq (they said he had been acting "weird" for a while before then). They don't know if it was resentment against the officers (but apparently it wasn't his chain of command or his officers he attacked) or against the war itself.

Someone emailed me this PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS:

"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in Jesus' name, our Lord and Savior." Amen

Disnee dad Says.......................We must wait for all information, and a good investigation, but if it plays out like it seems, then treason and death to him. Soldiers frag but it's usually after a long dragged out battle of many months and/or years, not after a few weeks of planning and 2 1/2 days of battle, far from the suspect. Looks bad for the guy.

As far as the original question goes....even if he's one of ours, I still consider him a 'terrorist'. That's what McVeigh was, even if he was an American. Terrorists come in ANY nationality.
JMHO.

Yes, but you only quoted part of my original post. If you re-read it you see that the first part said I was shocked that a US soldier could do this to their own and that it was beyond belief.

I used the word relief only that it wasn't an outside terrorist attack that managed to break the security of the base.

Overall it is still a tremendous tragedy, hightened this morning by the news that one of the soldiers died from his injuries.

WDWLVR, I did read your entire post. Again, I personally feel no relief in the fact that it wasn't an outside Terror Attack. An outside attack would be far more preferable than the reality, IMHO.
