Why is it being called a 'Terrorist Attack'?

Meanwhile in Kuwait, where it was already early Sunday, at least eight people were wounded, four to six of them seriously, when two blasts went off in a tent containing members of the U.S. Army 1st Brigade, Time magazine reporter Jim Lacey told CNN. Lacey said the military was calling it a terrorist attack, and that U.S. infantry were securing the area.

I don't understand why this is being called a 'Terrorist Attack'. Wouldn't it be an attack of the War? What makes this particular attack different -- to clasify it as Terrorist Action?

God Bless the Families that are 'waiting' to see if it is one of their loved ones.

From what I can gather, I think they think it may not have been Iraqis. I am not positive, though.

This story just took what could be a VERY UGLY turn, if what they're reporting right now is true.

It might have been one of our own. Boy! If it was, his life isn't worth spit right now.

I didn't understand that either. I hope they are all going to be okay. My prayers our with them all.

I am praying for these service people :(

I didn't hear that. What channel are you watching?

I watch nothing but FoxNews Channel. I can't stand CNN or any of the others.

But that's besides the point. NOW they're saying that one of the soldiers is "missing". That leaves things kind of up in the air.

Guess I learned my lesson for posting something while the story is still developing.

That said, it still doesn't look good, considering the amount of intense security at these camps.

Could it be called a terrorist act because it happened in Kuwait and not in Iraq and was not committed by an Iraqi?

Yes, damo is right. Kuwait is not at war with anyone, so it can't be an act of war no matter who did it.

They were calling it a terrorist attack because they thought it was done by some terrorists cells that were in the area. Remember, they suspect Al Queda among others may be in Iraq.

Unfortunately, this incident is not an act of terrorism or war. It is a fellow Marine who commited this act against his comrades. They say he'd been acting strangely for a few days and they were watching him. He got out of their sight, commited this act and was just found hiding. They can't give out too many details since they don't want to give away their location. But, it is a Marine who did this. The soldiers do not have life threatening wounds, thank God.

:( I can't understand this. I wonder if he went off the deep end :( or did it for meaness  ? How sad either way.
I hope the soldiers are going to be OK.

Fox is saying that they "think" he is a Muslim-American. One analyst suggested that some of the Islamic Chaplains may be passing along Jihad messages. It's completely unconfirmed.

If this is true that it was one of our men, then all our other men have to worry about our men and the enemy?

If it is true, what will happen to that soldier?

jamsmom, Yes. The Colonel on Fox said that it would be better to find out that someone had merely stolen a soldier's uniform to commit the attack. One of our own would be a worst case scenario. :(

Just to point something out-101st Airborne is the Army, not Marines. So it must have been a fellow soldier, not a Marine. What a shame. It will become a military criminal investigation.

Sometimes I think it would be easier for families not to get this kind of news until the officials actually figure out what is going on.
My thoughts and prayers go to each person who has a loved one serving our country! May God Bless You All!

Good grief. :(

Buck, I really think if it was one of our own, that that person has to be dealing with some mental health issues. :( As stressful as the war is on those of us who are just watching from the safety of our living room, I imagine being right on the front line the stress would be so much that it would just push someone dealing with problems right over the edge. :(

It's horrible no matter who did it. :(

MSNBC just reported that they are no longer investigating it as a terrorists act, but a criminal act. So, they must think it was an American Soldier.

I can;t imagine being a parent of a 101st soldier. Has anyone heard from Keli since Titus is in the 101st?
