to start threads just to make fun of another thread, and also have threads devoted to making fun of people....of course it's "all in fun".

I'm sure this will ruffle more than a few feathers, but that's okay.

Don't ask for examples because I don't know how to get one in my thread.

It's called freedom of speech. No flames just a reality. I agree though that lately there have been some ridiculous threads that I just refuse to participate in. I think some are "trying" to be funny and others are just mean spirited or really not a topic for a family board. And I think sometimes it is a question or comment a person really wants an answer to but feels foolish to ask a "real" person.

It also bothers me when people really tear into someone else when they may not have all the details. When someone asks for an opinion, it is fine to post a negative answer without being nasty about it - this is why I have added to my posts that I would like an opinion wether it be positive or negative but please be nice about it.

I try to maintain the same dignity & class that I do in every day face to face life & if others choose to be snippy, belittling, nasty, etc. so be it but I do not choose to associate with those people....in real life or on a board.

I agree with you. I have no problems with generic "let's start another crockpot war" or "why do have so many threads about..." type threads, but it seems to me that the people starting new threads just to make fun of a specific thread or poster could have just had their say on the original thread.

I'm always shocked when I see them go on and on without getting deleted. I guess single personal attacks are bad, but clique filled threads about other threads and people are fine.

I guess I don't understand why it's "cool" to take shots at other people when the other person probably doesn't even know about it.

I even go looking for them after a thread like this appears, and can still not find them. The only one I remember was a thread about how *many* threads were started on a topic (like 12 threads on Britney's divorce)...is that what you guys mean?

Mal--Glad I'm not the only one in the clueless club. I just wish someone would have the guts to post a link to one of these threads. I really want to see it. It's not that I don't believe it. Lord knows these boards fly so I'm sure I just miss things, but the curious side of me really wants to read this stuff.

Are you talking about a specific thread? Because if you are, I suppose you are doing what you are referring to. And I suppose you are since you would like to link a particular thread, but don't know how.

BTW, to link a thread, go to that thread, copy the URL (I right click with my mouse to copy and then click on copy), to to wherever you want to post that thread and paste it in the same way (right click and then paste).

And to serously answer your question, people get frustrated and don't handle themselves very well sometimes. I don't think that I've started threads like that before, but I do get frustrated and do things that I'm not proud of. Something that I've been called on and something that I have worked on. I try not to behave to others on a message board any differently than I would behave if I were talking to them in person.

And yes, I have the same sense of humor in person (wanted to clear that up before someone asks... ).

My whole point is I don't think threads should be allowed where other posters are bashed in bright daylight, and nothing is done.
People have been reprimanded for less.

I know what you mean and I think it's immature and passive aggressive. I feel bad for the people that post thinking it's a real thread but no - it's another clique thread.

As to why it is allowed to continue? Don't know. I've reported one before and nothing happened so I guess it's got to do with who is doing it or maybe the mods don't think it's a problem.
