Why is free dining better than package discount?

For us FD is a better deal since all 3 of our kids are Disney "adults"; 2 being teenage boys. When they were younger, we would all fit into the POR but now my dd is too big for the trundle bed so it's deluxe or the ASM Family Suite. If my kids were younger, FD wouldn't be that big of a deal but now, without FD, I think I'd have to take out a second mortgage to feed them, especially since they've gotten used to eating free at Le Cellier, Chefs de France, and Wolfgang Pucks!

For us, Free Dining can't be beat! We're a party of 4 adults (DH, me and 2 13-yo boys) on the DDP. The Free Dining is a value of about $160 per night for my family.

We're hoping to stay at Pop Century and get 8 day passes--2 days for each park. We'll be out eating and park touring most of the trip so Pop is plenty adequate for our needs.

$82 per night (plus tax and tips) for the room, DDP, and ME is an incredible deal IMO. The last week of summer vacation on our school schedule always fits into the Free Dining dates plus it's a perfect time for me to take a vacation week from my job. Honestly, it's such a great deal, and we had so much fun last year, I can see us doing it for a few more years. This year, I know to book bounceback.

I hope we can book the trip soon, since right now, I have my choice of flights and that could mean staying a few nights longer. Now that the last FD pin code expired, I hope Disney will hurry up and put another PIN out (that I get) or start booking for FD for the general public.
