why is every change considered a cutback?

People always assume change is a cutback. The Buskers on the Boardwalk are one that comes to mind and now the Living Statues. The new entertainment on the boardwalk is excellent. The juggler I saw in Italy earlier in the month was awesome. It was also NEW.

Why is WDW not allowed to bring in talent without people having a stroke???

First of all, I don't think anyone has had a stroke. Second, I am not opposed to them bringing in new entertainment. There are many people who enjoyed the unique entertainment that Disney has offered in the past and wants them to continue providing these crowd pleasing favorites. There is nothing wrong with people wanting to have their favorite attractions remain at the parks, and voicing their displeasure about departures that are much loved. I have not personally seen the new juggler, but I don't see how bringing back Imaginium would mean bumping him. They can peacefully coexist. I don't care if it was because of cutbacks or not, I just want a part of Disney that my family, as well as many others, loved to be brought back if at all possible.

There has been a great deal of cut backs over the past few years, inside the resorts as well as in the back of the house.

For those of us that go 2-3 times a year we have our favorites and enjoying seeing them every trip. When Disney makes a so-called "change" it's like losing something special, something you tell your friends and family about. I can see why folks get upset when they cut back on services or make a change in the entertainment, to some... it's like losing an old friend.

Change is change, cutbacks are cutbacks. I agree that many people have enjoyed the past but if changes weren't made would we have Off Kilter or Epcot Vybe or the Mayor of the MK. When I started going, none of these were part of the essence of Disney. I'm sure there are a limited number of hours that in each country that the street performers perform so that each country gets to have it's own experience.

I agree that no-one is having a stroke, merely engaging in a civilised discourse. Many people have favourite entertainers who they have seen before, and who have created memories for them, and therefore they wish to see them again. I am sure that there is something new that could replace Off Kilter or The British Invasion for example, but I am equally sure that some, but not all guests would want the new and the old to co-exist as the previous poster mentioned. If Disney couldn't or wouldn't do this then there would be a percentage of guests who would wish to voice their opinions, and I don't see anything wrong with that.

Bracho, like you I go multiple times a year. As a return visitor, would you keep going back if there were no changes? If things were old an the same all the time? I wouldn't. I do miss some of the old, Dreamfinder is the first thing that comes to mind.

Change is at the heart of what man-kind is and like it or not, change is going to happen.. There are changes I don't like and I'm sure there are changes you don't like either but they happen... Would I keep going back if the didn't make changes.... I would have to say yes because there is so much more to Disney then just a ride or some act. I am very happy to see new things at Disney. I can't wait to go this May because there are so many new things to see and a whole new party for 18 months, but I will miss those things that have changed.

Dreamfinder was alot of fun and like you.. that will be missed bigtime by myself as well, I guess with so much space down there I just wish they would keep adding new stuff while leaving the old favorites....

If the juggler you saw was Sergio it is not a new act. I know in 2001 you could see both Sergio and the Living Statues. The Living Statues were a very unique experience that kids and adults could participate in. Watching the World Showcase Players do essentially the same act in 3 countries just doesn't appeal as much. One reason people may suspect budgetary cut-backs at Epcot are things like reduced operating hours of attractions and the fact that you can only see Cranium command two weeks out of the year.

I am going to miss the statues, and if it were just for a change, that would be one thing. But we get cynical when we feel like it is just at the behest of the almighty dollar. Everything I read, for example, about the Stitch ride is that it was supposed to be a much greater upgrade but money got pulled. Now, a majority of DISers think the ride is sub-par. Wonders of Life -- a WHOLE pavilion -- is almost always closed (that's not change -- that's cutbacks) instead of spreading out the crowds, including great rides like Cranium Command and Body Wars. Timekeeper, COP are frequently closed as well. Change is great -- cutbacks on my expensive vacation suck.

Lets look at what you said 88.

We did Dine with an Imagineer in March. The Imagineer worked on the Stich project and was honest we he said it is a redisgn of AE and that marketing over sold it. DW and I went on it twice and we enjoyed it much more then AE which I could not get her on.

I know this is your expensive sucky vacation (your words) but no one went to Wonders of Life. Once it lost sponsorship I'm sure it became cost prohibitive. But this can never be about sound financial decsions for Disney. COP is my all time favorite. I was lucky enough to see it again in October. It needs to go and the real estate developed.

I'm not trying to be arguementative, but I'm truly curious to know what new musical groups have been added. Main Street Band, Future Corps, (rumor has it) Tomorrowland Countdown-all gone. What new musical groups have been added in the past 5 years to replace these cuts?

The Main Street B and was there the week of 3/5 to 3/13. I have a picture somewhere. When were in Tomorrowland, there was a group playing on rock and roll on a small stage which I don;t know the name. In MGM they added Mulch Sweat and Shears, awesome rock band.

Five years ago, there were no streetmosphere players in MK. The add a lot now.

There is nothing wrong voicing your opinion. However there is something wrong with calling the action a cutback. They can't just add more and more entertainment; new entertainment has to replace old entertainment. There is still at least one and in many cases two or three different shows in each country of WS. Change should not be viewed as a cut back.

If you're interested in finding out people's opinions, rather than being argumentative, IMHO, I would suggest not purposefully skewing other poster's comments.

You are correct - the "new" juggler is Sergio. If you look at the archives in the "Way Back Machine" for the Steve Soares site, you can see Sergio and Imaginum coexisting. (WayBack Machine)

How do you know that this is the reason rather than cost cutting? Are you speaking with definitive knowledge or making an asumption? Who or what is therefore replacing Andymation at MGM?

As part of the new celebration DAK is getting an animatronic Dinosaur that is state of the art. The dino will roam the parks. Maybe that's part of it. People that have seen the dino say it's INCREDIBLE.

My question is actually only directed Peter11435 who seemed to be speaking with specific authority. If he is not making assumptions, but is actually making statements based upon decisions which he was party to or witnessed himself then obviously I bow to his superior knowledge.
