Why is CVS so expensive?

CVS basically pays me to shop there so why wouldn't I go there? :confused3 Get coupons, use one of several web-sites like coupon mom and match CVS sales to your coupons and you can actually make money shopping there. Any brands you do not use or items you can get for free you can either donate or sell in a garage sale. If you have a family member that say uses Crest and you don't then pick it for them (very often on sale/free) and sell it to them at a discount.

And if you have a family member that lives nearby take them shopping with you and get double the deals! Or if you're married some stores will encourage you to have 1 card for each spouse.

I doubt CVS loses any money since most people do not do all the deals and some people even are so dense they throw away their ECBs that are attached to their receipts.

The ECBs are on your receipt and will give you a dollar amount off your next purchase. If you have 3 separate ECB you must purchase at least 3 items. You can't buy 1 $20 item then try to use ECBs in the amounts of $12, $4, and $4. So sometimes people will use what we call fillers like buying a small item like 2 single pencils so as to use the 3 ECBs on the $20 item.

If I'm going to a nearby larger town that has a Walgreens they often have a few of the same items on sale so stocking up is easy. A great thing about Walgreen's is if their coupon says limit 6 usually you can purchase as many as you like and still get the sale price. Thats when "buying" coupons on places like Ebay can help you get totally awesome deals on multiple items.

I hate CVS with a Passion, I shop at Walgreens, its right next to my store. CVS is across the street, and I NEVER go IN there.:sad2: For one, they don't accept my Debit card, no matter how many times I tried, its declined. Its a VISA DEBIT card, and even Disney World accepts it, but NOT CVS!

Hate to bump my own thread (especially one so old) but I just found this. Interesting stuff..

I hope they didn't include Tide in the total amount, I bought 4 large bottles for a total of $1 out of pocket at my CVS. I would never pay the 10.99 they want everyday, but with $5 sales, extrabucks, and additional 4 off 20s, I get more at CVS for close to nothing than the other 2 chains combined. Who buys OJ at a drugstore anyway?

I shop at CVS because my DD works there. She has worked there for 2 years now. Before she started working there, I hardly ever went in to the store. But, now, I'm in there several times a week. I bring her her dinner when she is on her break, and then I naturally have to shop! LOL!

We have a Walgreens, 2 CVS's within 2 miles of each other, and a Rite Aid all near each other.

Oh, and I hardly ever use my ECB's because I either forget I have them or lose them. I think that should be my New Year's resolution this year: to use my ECB's.

My thought--they have to make up for all their sales and CVS bucks somewhere.

The only folks I know who shop there are shopping for the deals.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I think of CVS (or Walgreens, Eckerd etc) as more of a convenience store than a place I would go to "shop". I've never woken up on a Saturday morning thinking "Hey, let's go shopping at CVS". That's more for Target, or the mall for me.

When you need something quick, and CVS is the only thing that's nearby and open, it's just kind of annoying when you have to spend 10-20% more than another store.
