Why is 160 points and Feb use year so popular for BLT?

It seems a huge majority of resale contracts for BLT are 160 points and Feb use year. Why? What am I missing?

I can answer why Feb UY seems so popular...it's because it has the most points.

I'm on the hunt for a small Dec UY which seems like finding a needle in a haystack.

IIRC, 160 points was the minimum purchase required for a new membership when BLT was first offered for sale.

You will see similar patterns at AKV based on minimum purchase at inception. I think they were 160 too.

As for UY, OWK was divided close to equally among the 8 months that are available for UY. Since then, they are all the resorts are unbalanced, some very much so.

AKV has over 32 percent of its points in December.
BLT over 38 perceent in February
BCV over 27 percent in Feb
Poly 29 percent in Dec.

160 was the minimum buy in for new buyers back then. And DVC stuck on the February UY for new buyers for a very, very long time with BLT for some reason. It threw things way out of whack in UY's. At AKV they got stuck on December for a very, very long time. Why on the UY's? No idea at all.

We bought 320 at BLT when it first came out in August use year. There was nothing pushed on us for February use year. The minimum of 160 really did not apply for us.

it wasn't the entire sales time but where they now tend to change the UY every month with BLT they stuck on Feb for quite awhile for those who didn't ask for anything else. Eventually the timing of points sold with a UY require a change of the offering.

I was thinking maybe February because of school winter break, June because school vacation starts, and December because it's Christmas, Chanukah, etc.

When we purchased in March 2010, we were allowed to pick our UY. For our vacationing patterns and age, 160 pts with Sept UY worked well. Sometimes I wish I had purchased 200 pts, but we make it work.
