I TOTALLY loved having the DDP!!! I will honestly say I probably would have spent less $ on food if I hadn't used it.....Here's my (very) brief breakdown.

We "spent" just over $720 on TS, almost $220 on CS and about $60 on snacks pluss another $33 for "extras". (aprox total...$1031.50) That was for 2 adults and 2 teens (adult costs) for 5 days. We were STUFFED constantly and could barely move after the TS meals. The food Was EXCELLENT! We ate at LeCellier, Sci-Fi Dine in, Crystal Palace, Alfredo's and did Breakfastasaurus for TS.

If we had NOT had the dining plan we would have done 1 TS...Nice, all out meal and one Character....About I guestimate about $250-300. We would have done probably 6 CS each....Guestimate $240 and then snacks I figure would be about the same at $60...SO...we would LIKELY have spent about $550-600 in food. (Plus gorceries for breakfast!)

So...in short for only $160-210 I didn't have to worry AT ALL about what I ordered. I got to eat some of the best food I've had in a long time and it was a wonderful, stress free experience. IMHO the money it "cost" me was well worth it and I would do it again without a second thought. Without it I would have been counting pennies throught my entire vacation...and THAT just is not fun or Magical!!!

What did you think of Sci-Fi? I here it is better to order lunch there. I was wondering if it is worth using a dining credit there, or just paying cash. We are 2 adults and 2 kids. Both kids will have the dining plan (even the 2 year old-who is almost 3)

We have reservations for Sci-Fi too when we go in April. I was curious about the food we have dinner reservations.

Thanks

Even though burgers are not on the dinner menu you can order them. We like Sci-Fi for a late lunch. There shakes are awesome.

My kids love the Sci-Fi, the atmosphere is really cool. I thought my burger was so-so, but the spinach & artichoke dip was really good. The shakes are really good too. I split a burger with DH.

I agree with you 100% about the dining plan. That is partly what made my vacation so magical...not having to count pennies during the trip. I am planing another trip for 2007 and I hope they still have the DDP.

I am glad you had a magical time. pixiedust:

We did lunch and we enjoyed it. The atmosphere was nice but, you don't sit facing eachother in the cars so for younger kids it may not work as well. The food was good....not "great"...you can get a sandwich just as good at any decent deli. The onion rings were awful but, the fries were good. Overall...we liked it enough that I'd go for lunch again.

I'm so glad that someone else feels that way about the dining plan! When we went last year, we were lucky enough to get it for free. Now I'd hate to go without it because it was so nice to just order whatever and not look at the price. We planned it out and made the most of our credits by going to lunch in the castle with the princesses, the hoop-de-doo, and Mitsukoshi at Epcot, Sci-fi (yuck-but the kids wanted to go there), and a couple other cool places. Then used our counter credits on day-to-day meals. The kids knew they had a Mickey ice cream a day too. I know you can do it for slightly less, but if you use it right you can get a lot out of the credits. Going back in November and plan to eat our way thru the World again! :teeth:
Forgot: Our trip to Sci-Fi was not good. Food wasn't good, service was rushed even though they weren't busy. The kids (4 & 8) wanted to go there, but they didn't really get the movies at lot of the time, and the darkness kind of freaked out the younger one. Just my experience.

We loved the DP!!! It was so wonderful to get to choose so many restaurants that we normally would not try and have the freedom to order whatever we wanted. Otherwise, we would have eaten mostly CS and be ordering the cheapest thing on the menu, sharing drinks, etc.--not fun. I loved the DP. I also liked the freedom that our meals were already paid for and we didn't have to carry around all that extra cash. I can't wait to do it again. :thumbsup2
