Why I "think" I should avoid the resale market... tell me your thoughts.

That's kinda rude. Assuming SSR, let's see..

100 pts direct from Disney = $112 per point - $19 per point promo = $93 current price, $9300 total (no closing costs - includes one tote bag)

Lowest price 100 point add-on from The Timeshare Store is presently $73 per point, and includes no 2008 points.

So $7300 + ~$500 closing costs = $7800, for a difference of $1500.

Potentially significant, but getting "free" 2008 points and a matching use year from Disney could certainly be worth $1500, along with the convenience of being able to book now.
Alot of resale contracts have the 2008 points, closing costs are negotiable, alot of people are not paying closing costs, SSR is selling for more like $68 not $73.

a) it does not appear that they do (re: the 2008 points)
b) okay, but I imagine that has some impact on the per point purchase price
c) the $73 was the lowest listed price for a 100 point contract. Smaller contracts tend to be more expensive per point.
d) there's still no need for you to "challenge" another poster in aggressive advocacy of your own position.

Have seen alot of contracts with 2008 points, you cannot look at selling price, you have to look at what people are actual buying them at. There is a thread showing exactly what people are purchasing at. And I apologize for my challenging comment.

The OP quoted lowest 100 point contract currently found on TSS.... it seems ..... in the resale market........contracts for fewer points are sold for more $$ per point!
When I bought my add-on............ it was a better overall value to buy from Disney...... I am not saying that it is always the case BUT sometimes it is!!!!

For what it's worth:

I saw 2 50pt SSR December use year resales about a month ago. One had all of 2008's points available at $77/pt. One only had 4 of 2008's points left at $73/pt. I believe closing was $322.

We offered on the $73, and just passed ROFR yesterday.

This contract works well for us, it matches our current use year at SSR, and the lack of 2008 points wasn't a problem right now.
