Why I Didn't Like Stitch's Great Escape

First, when the holsters come down on your shoulder, for some reason, it came down on my right shoulder very hard and not on my left shoulder (maybe I was sitting off kilter?)

But I tend to be a tad claustrophobic and the pushing down on my right shoulder made me so uncomfortable, that I wiggled my shoulder between the harnesses to free it. This was not comfortable. I looked at my DD8 and she had done the same thing. Needless to say, this became even more uncomfortable when Stitch "bounced on the harness" later during the ride.

Then, when the various "smells" in the show came through, I thought they were horrible. I swear those smells stayed with me for a couple hours after the ride.

This was my least favorite ride at MK and I don't plan on riding it again.

Did anyone else have these problems?

I have never ridden Stitch. I rode it when it was Alien and liked it. I planned to ride Stitch on this trip, but after you mentioned the smells, maybe I won't. I have allergies that are pretty bad and different smells tend to set them off. Thanks for the heads up :thumbsup2

I hate the ride. DD and I rode it and you're absolutely right, the gross smells stay with you. I hope they replace the attraction. I actually like Alien Encounter(was that the name?) better---still didn't enjoy it, though.

hind sight is a pain in the butt.

People hated alien encounters ... said it was to scarey so they kidified it, and now people rag on stitch and want alien encounters back. i think they need to ridp out the building and start fresh. it's obvious that ride formula doesn't work.

on a second note. i like stitch.. don't love it, but like it. and i hat the fact he calles him self stitch which is totaly against continuity.

The best way to sit is really straight and put your hands across your shoulders when the harness lowers. This will give you a nice gap as to not put pressure.

As far as the smell find the hole that sprays on the harness and put your figer over it at that time then wash your hands and your all set.

It's not a Fav of ours either but still is not that bad.

I may be the oddball ere, but I like BOTH Alien Encounter and Stitch's Great Escape. The chili dog smell I could have done without, but I still like both attractions. I just glad the kept Skippy around! I always loved his character!

I just saw the Stitch attraction the other day. I can't say I hate it but I don't love it either. It's an alright attraction. I thought the robotic arms (guns) were pretty cool, and the Stitch animatronic was neat. The "burp" chili-dog smell I didn't think was that bad. In fact I only smelled it for probably two seconds... but I suppose if you were a person that hated chili-dogs maybe it would be gross.

After seeing just about every attraction over the weekend at MK, I have to say The Tiki Room is probably my least favorite attraction... never saw the original though.

Harness didn't bother me; smell didn't bother me -- I like the Stitch attraction! (I never got to see the Alien one it replaced).

This attraction seems to be a LOVE/HATE one -- but if there is a line to get in ... I think it will stay.

I learned from these boards several years ago when Stitch was Alien Encounter was to sit up tall with your shoulders up. That way when the harness stops tightening and you readjust into a normal position, the harness is not even touchging your shoulders.

I wish I had read your tips regarding the harness and the smell BEFORE I went on it. Just reminds me to read everything on here before I go. (Not that I'll ever need a reminder, though, LOL)

I really do not like this ride either. The smell is what gets me. I have gone on it twice before and both times ended with a headache. I tend to be a baby when it comes to bad smells. My DD9 also will not go on this ride. She has the same problem with the smells.

I enjoyed it. Not as good at AE (which was great, but way to scary IMO for MK) I thought the chili dog was the funniest/most memorable part of the ride.

i decided to try out stitch a couple weeks ago, and after i got off i wanted to shower. the smell stuck with me for a good hour or so, if not a tad bit longer, and it was dis-gus-ting. I normally dont have a problem with smells, but the chair thing i was sitting it seemed to keep spraying and spraying and spraying. I almost thought it wouldnt stop!

I wont be ridding stitch again, and it's a shame too, because stitch is one of my favorite characters and i feel like im boycotting him!

Dont worry stitch, i still love you... just not your ride! Actually, come to think of it, When i was in MGM i had my picture taken with stitch and i had my RNRC picture in my hand, and stitch gave the thumbs down signal to that ride. i said "not a big fan of rockin roller coaster?" and he shook his head no. Then his assistant said "his favorite ride is stitch's great escape... and stitch paused and shook his head no and pointed to tower of terror.... so even stitch isnt a big fan of his own ride, haha.

My Fiance and I were going to go on during Extended Hours this past April but we didnt get on. I'll definitely consider all this next trip ;)

I thought the ride was cute. I just wish my 5 year old could have gone on it, but he was too short. He loves Stitch. But that chili dog smell was the worst. I could have gagged! I smelled it most of the day and later in the day I walked by a food stand that sort of smelled like that and there was no way I could have eaten anything from there. But other then that it was cute.

I was not impressed by the ride either. I don't even know why they call it a ride! you just sit there and get tortured! my son and my husband both liked it though. I LOVE Stitch but this just didn't do it for me! :confused3 Helen

We just went back to MK 2 weeks ago after a 7 year hiatus. My wife and I loved Alien Encounter (freaky, suspenseful, but definitely not for kids) so thought they had just rethemed it for Stitch. We were incredibly disappointed by this new version. In fact, other than the general concept, it's completely different. We were just bored the entire time.
Not sure if I'm remembering correctly but wasn't the theater completely dark when it was AE?

actualy you bring up a very good point. it's not a ride, it's an attraction. it's actualy something that really grates on my nerves when people call it a ride. But i don't say anything because utlimatly it's me and my insane pickyness and it really doesn't squat in the big picture..

but to clarify it is considered an attraction not a ride.

I, for one, never ragged on Alien Encounter. I LOVED it. I loved it BECAUSE it was scary and intimidating and I felt exhilirated after it was over. I even bought some of the AE merchandise which is a rare thing for me to do as I don't buy much attraction oriented merch. I was SO SO SO upset when I found out they made it more "child friendly."

I finally got over my annoyance of the change enough to go on the attraction in September and when the lights went out, I remembered how the attraction used to be and got annoyed all over again. And then they blew that atrocious smell in my face and I was even more annoyed. What makes it worse is that you can't put your hand over your nose to cover the smell and have to attempt to hold your breath.

Yeah. I hate that attraction.

Had no problem with the harness or smell. I just hate the ride/attraction because it is wickedly boring and stupid.

I liked AE. It wasn't my #1 love, but it was good. Stich just stinks.
