Why Has Iowa Not Been Called Yet?

It's ironic. I stayed up until 1:30 last night. I was waiting for either Iowa or Ohio to be called before I went to bed. Iowa because I live here and obvious reasons for Ohio. Those are the two states that have caused the most problem. Glad I finally gave up :)

Anyway, why haven't they called Iowa? Is it not important anymore? I know it doesn't make a winner or a loser, but don't they still have to call it? Bush has it, and all counties are in but Greene, I believe. 60% in in there. There is a difference of 13,000 votes in Iowa. I'm not sure there are that many people in Greene county during the fair :) I grew up in Greene county. The county seat has about 4000 people. About 3000 in that county have voted. So, why the wait? I know they had problems with the machines, but can't they call it?

Same goes for is it New Mexico. Why hasn't it been called yet?

Maybe it's the same issue with the provisional ballots needing to be verified and counted.

I heard last night that two of the voting machines went down and so the votes couldn't be counted. they are supposed to be fixed today sometime.

Yep last night on CNN they reported that the machines that read the votes broke down and the manufacturer was sending new ones there today.

Yeah, I heard that too. It was in Greene county. There is a differnce of about 13,000 votes between Bush and Kerry in Iowa, though. There aren't that many people in Greene county. There have been 3000 votes counted, if I looked right. The county seat of Jefferson only has a popular of about 3500, maybe 4000. That's why I don't understand it. This county consists of MANY very small towns. The polling place is probably Farmer Brown's barn. Not belittling the area, I grew up there, and I'd gladly go back, but it's not a largely populated area. Maybe I missed something.

The truth is that Iowa was jealous that Ohio was getting all the attention. ::yes:: It's true. They held up the count to be the state everyone is talking about. We know. We live in Illinois. We know about Iowa (I Owe the World an Apology).

:duck: Here comes someone from Iowa now. Shhhh! Act like we never saw this thread! :rolleyes1

Hey!!!!

The Iowans also had to go to bed. They got tired. That was the other reason for no vote last night. :)

Weird, isn't it?

BEFORE the election, Iowa was being visited by a candidate, oh, like EVERY DAY.

Now, it's like no one even cares . . . oh well. Iowa is the Rodney Dangerfield (RIP) of the states, I guess.

And I think Tinks is right about Ohio. My younger sister lives in Ohio, and she's always hogged the spotlight . . .

We'll I love you guys in Iowa. I don't care what anyone says.

I have cousins in Ohio with whom I was very, very close when they lived in Mass. Once they moved to Ohio They couldnl't have cared less, So that (snapping my fingers) for Ohio.

Well, now 100% of the vote is in for Iowa, and they still aren't calling it :( Do they have more important things to do?????? I'd really just like the see our state in bright red, since Al Gore took Iowa in 2000.

I am in Iowa and wish it was bright BLUE!!:D

But oh well...

Now at least we can move on and all try to work together and get things done!

What IS it with Iowa and New Mexico? They still have not tallied their electoral votes....and yet the week prior to the election, these 2 states were "crucial" to both candidates......

You'd have thought they could have counted the votes by hand and had them done by now.:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

So what way did Iowa go? I was born and raised in Iowa (parents still there). I remember when Iowa was like the ONLY state that went for Dukakis! LOL!

CCN has STILL not called it. Poor Iowa and New Mexico just left there all alone like we don't matter :(

Where in Iowa are you from?
