We have been counting down the days that seemed would never end and finally we leave for WDW tomorrow! We live in NC about 2 hours NW of Charlotte. We haven't had snow in about 4 years. Guess what...they are calling for up to a foot of snow in our area tomorrow! I keep having to battle the feeling of disappointment that we'll miss the snow. I mean come on! It's WDW!!! Why couldn't the snow come in 8 days when we're back!! Why GOD, whyyyyyy!

Oh I thought you were worried about getting out okay...you mean you are worried about missing the snow??? Vacation in New England...you'll see plenty of snow :)

Yeah, no offence, but get over it! I'm from the Jersey shore, and we see plenty of snow (not as much as some thank goodness) and it stinks! First, you have to get out at the butt-crack of dawn and shovel everything or we get a fine. Then you have to turn your car on, and come inside and TRY to regain the feeling in your limbs. Then, after the car has been on about 15 minutes, you go BACK outside to scrap everything, which takes another 15 minutes. Then, if you live on a small side street that NEVER GETS PLOWED or salted, you have to go like 5 miles an hour to get off the street which takes like 5 minutes! Then you get on the parkway, and there are all these ********* that don't feel the need to get the snow off the roof of their car, and at 70 mph, it FLYS OFF and hits your car smack in the windshield. So if you windshield doesn't just shatter on impact, you have to deal with getting this junk off so you can see and not get into an accident. Yeah, snow is GREAT! Sorry for being so synical, but SNOW STINKS!

Hear hear! You can come up to NJ and have our snow because I'm sick of it (and to be fair to Mother Nature, we haven't really got that much this year).

Hey Smylie!
We're in Greenville, NC so I totally understand. Snow is such a rarity that you hate to miss out on it. I'm sure people from further north think we're nuts. If they could just see all of us adults running out to play in it with the kids. I go sledding in the back of our neighborhood everytime we get lucky enough to get any. But If we get any this time I'll be stuck at work all day. :sad1: Anyway at least you're missing it for a wonderful reason! Have a good trip.

I'm also from NJ. If you want, you can come to my house this weekend and look out the window for snow while I take your trip to Disney! Sounds fair to me...

I live in High Point so I am guessing you are in the mountains. It'll snow some other time, if not that is what visiting Ski Resorts are for. :)

I'm in Charlotte and I don't mind missing it at all. At least tomorrow is the weekend, but during the week it is a pain. Schools were closed on Thursday because of around 2 inches of snow on the ground and nothing on the roads but water.

I am originally from South Carolina, I now live in Manhattan. I absolutely LOVE the snow. I always hope that for some miracle, my work will have a snow day... but unfortunately, in Manhattan, that will never happen. They don't shut off the trains and buses for snow! Boo hoo....

So I understand you missing the snow, but in the long run, Disney is WAY better!

Oh I know! There is a pretty long steep hill in front of our house. We live in a housing development, so traffic isn't a problem. I think there are more adults on sled and toboggins than kids! It's so quiet and beautiful around here when it snows.

However, I can understand how some who live farther north or west would get tired of it since it's a several times a year, every year occurance. It would get old I guess. Especially when it all turns to slush.

I'm from SC, so I know what you mean. We got snow this week and we don't see it much here either. But hey -they're calling for it again tonight, so who knows? maybe it'll be there for you when you get back. Hope you have a good trip!

I am in charlotte too and I hope we get some tomorrow. My kids are dying to play in it. The stuff we got Thurs was such a nasty mess, that we didn't get to enjoy any of it.

We live on the eastern end of Burke County. Just a little too far east to see much snow. We usually get freezing rain.

Canadian here and I can tell you that I would be more than happy if all the snow disappeared the day after Christmas and I mean disappear not turn to slush. It's great to wake up to a white Christmas, but that's about all I really need the snow for. I can't wait to leave the cold weather behind in 9 days for our trip!!

I know exactly what you mean, OP. About 5 or 6 years ago, I took my daughters to WDW for the week between Christmas and New Years. As we were leaving the lobby of the Animal Kingdom Lodge, we ran into some neighbors who live down the street from us - they were just checking in. When they told us they had left with 8 inches of snow on the ground at home, both daughters burst into tears at the thought they were missing it!!!! Even being at WDW and the AKL couldn't help!

Have a great trip anyway!!!

Wow, I wish I could appreciate snow the way you people who don't get it very often do. We have had snow on the ground since the beginning of December and believe me it does get very old! Even my daughter gets sick of it. We just got a couple more inches the other day and more to come this weekend. Wish I could send it south to someone who would enjoy it!

I'll trade places with you if you want. Not only do I have snow on the ground and have since December, the weather here right now is -7 with a 'real feel' of -31. I'm willing to trade with anyone who wants to come to lovely Minnesota!

I know how you feel, we were talking about a quick trip this past week to DW, thank goodness I wasn't feeling well and decided to put it off because it snowed! It was the first time DS5 ever saw snow here (okay, it snowed when he was just a year old). He did see snow in March in Ohio but he was so excited and had so much fun sledding on maybe an inch of snow and having a snowball fight and all that goes along with it. It was just as good as disney to us and free!

He stared out the window all night tonight after hearing it might snow again tomorrow! So crazy, I know. I grew up in Ohio and snow was not that special to me!
