Why get internet access on vacation?

We've bought the package on the cruises we've taken mainly because my hubby is a business owner and needs to take care of things himself even when he's out of town.
I use it to email my friends and family and to rub it in that I'm on a Disney cruise in a tropical, beautiful location and they are NOT! :D

Usually I don't like to have contact with the outside world, but since I am now so dependent on the Internet for all my travel info, I will probably log on if I have a question about one of the ports or resorts .

My husband also owns his own business and though we would love for it to run perfectly when he's not there, sometimes a situation comes up that he needs to deal with and the internet is the easiest way to do that. They can email us with any questions and we check it daily. Our last WDW trip dh spent alot of time on the cell phone with them and ran up quite a bill. This is alot less intrusive as well as less expensive.:D

Having the internet was a Godsend on my last cruise. Not only was I able to keep my family back home informed of the Great time I was having. The access was totally necessary when my wallet was lost on the cruise. I was able to cancel my credit cards, (Not the one I used for the cruise that one was seperate) and notify my bank of the loss. Made the replacement process and the possible losses a much smoother ride because of the Internet Cafe.

To keep in contact with my dh and my daughter in Japan who aren't with me.
Also to check my 2 terp lists so I won't get behind.

it was the first time our dog had spent the night away from home. It was important for us to know how she was doing and it was equally important to the neighbors that were dog-sitting to know that they could get ahold of us in case of emergency. And if that's too silly of a reason, we had ds's friend along and e-mailed his mom frequently to let her know all was okay.

To send all those I'm here and you're not, nanna nanna boo boo messages...............

If you dont sign up for unlimited internet access in the beginning of the cruise and then decide half way thru to subscribe, do you pay a reduced fee? Does anyone know how much the costs are?

We own our own business and my husband can only take vacations if he can have contact with the office. We even had a client call him on his cell phone in San Juan this past Jan.! The client never knew he had called us in San Juan. It was business as usual. I am grateful that the ships have internet access onboard, it means we will be able to continue to cruise. As for me, I have never used the service but I do request my husband to look up things on the "net" if I need any info. Kathy

I have two reasons (both job related). I'm an expert in my field, and there are times when a questioned must be answered within 24 hours (I deal with Federal Government grant money, and when they want an answer, they want it NOW), and my husband and I own our own business and must be reachable.

I have a cell modem for my computer, and it works when we're in Port, but when we're at sea, I have to be able to reach my office and my clients. I haven't had any problems which needed my attention, and with luck, I never will, but I have to be prepared!

Beth
