WHY Exactly Do You Like Disney So Much?

Please read my story to see where this came from. :goodvibes Thanks.

While wandering around the Magic Kingdom on our last vacation, I realized that I loved Disney, its surroundings, the music, and everything about it. I can't remember a time when I DIDN'T love Disney. I remember not being obsessed before (LMAO!) but not not loving it (sorry for the double negatives). But that brought me to the next question...why...WHY do I love Walt Disney World?

I thought and thought to myself, and realized that I could not come up with a description of the reason it made me feel so wonderful, carefree, relaxed, perfect.

So I asked someone who has a psychology major from college and who knows me better than anyone. I said, "Mom," (haha), "Why DO I like Disney so much?"
She responded, "Because your entire life you've been acting like an adult. You've taken on responsibilities, you've been mature, and beyond your years. At Disney, you can finally be the kid that you didn't get to be growing up. You can act your age or even younger."

So anyways, that kind of struck me in a certain way, and I thought I'd throw that out there and let you guys ponder why YOU like Disney and share it with everyone to get them thinking too :)

Share away!

Oh, bbut the question is my friend, What excatly CANT you like at Disney!? :rotfl:

Ah, but you see Jessie, here is where we all trick ourselves. We wonder, WHAT don't we like about Disney? We love everyTHING. But the question is...WHY? And my reason is explained above.

:rotfl: :faint: I get it, that would take FOREVER to type, BUT I'll attempt part of it.. :rotfl: I think that the DIS opened my eyes to all the TRUE Disney Magic. Why.. thats really hard to explain in words.. Sorry Ash.. :confused3

It's fascinating, isn't it? How you just can hardly put it into words!!! I find it amazing! And THAT is why we are TRUE Disney lovers!

Magic :wizard:

And where else can you get away with wearing some of those crazy hats without people thinking you are nuts? :teeth:

::yes:: :rotfl:

i can tell you why.

because since i remember, Disney is such a big part of my life. it always has. almost every movie i own is Disney. i remember watching Cinderella a thousand time, wishing i had mice like hers, i remember watching 101 Dalmations complaining to my mother all the time that i wanted one, and i remember being scared to watch the wood scene in Snow White.
and i think i was about four, actually, i have to idea what movie it was, but i think it was Bambi, and i got it for easter. it had an advert for Disney World, and for years i pleaded my mother to go. we started planning when i was in grade 1, and we had our hearts set on it. but the following year, 9/11 happened, and my father was scared to death of going on a plane. he refused to go, he was afraid that something similar would happen.

so we just put it off. anyways. Disney has been our only vacation, it's the place where my dad can forget about work, forget about the trouble in his life and actually enjoy himself, and enjoy watching us have fun. generally he's an angry man, and it's nice to be able to go to Disney and see him smile, and cry with the rest of us at Wishes. he smiled this year when he saw me singing to every song at Phillarmagic, and all i could do was smile back and say 'thanks'.

and i just teared up writing that. xD

Why do i love disney....

because i can act like i'm 4... and get away with it...
because i get this unexplainable feeling of happiness in my stomach
because when i'm there my family clicks and it's SO amazing..

The reason why i like disney is b/c all of the other ammusement parks i.e six flags, cedar point, anf hershey park don't have a "theme" like disney does. what i am saying is that there is no magic anywherez else. just @ WDW and DL...i was talking to one of the moms of the kids i babysit for before she went to dinner and i was putting on a disney sing-along video for the little girl and the mother says" o yeah, you guys like disney as much as we do" i was like no. u just don't understand....lol...but i guess the point is i like having a place that is so happy and fun and magical, it is just a place that you always feel like a kid.. my brother and i never fight... i mean like the other parks don't have the feeling...i mean they r fun and all but not like disney. nothing is like disney.

Okay, so you wake up on a regular school day and think to yourself..."Did I finish all the work I was supposed to finish? What should I wear today? Will this look okay? Does my hair look too poofy? How will I try and make myself known today?" and then proceed with the usual activies of the day. You work at analysing situations, calulating equations and socially challenging yourself at new levels.

You try very hard to "fit" in and that sometimes means dropping what you would love to talk about and talking about something...perhaps, a bit more "acceptable" by your peers.

Then, one day, you wake up and none of that stuff matters. You wake up and realize that you don't have to impress anyone, you don't have work and you don't have to try and elevate yourself to levels you simply cannot reach. You are left the express yourself in anyway possible without the feeling of embarrassment or humilitaion.

In Walt Disney World, that is how I feel. Somehow, everything I do here, at home, is left at home. I stop thinking about whatever stress grows here in Massachusetts and let my imagination take me higher into the world I have dreamed.

I become part of what my dreams have always been about; what my wishes have been about; what my hopes have been about. I feel like nothing bad can ever happen in Walt Disney World and like everything is perfect. I have time to think about the things that amuse me, please me, and entertain me. I love Disney because it let's me be the kid I was, am and will always be.

I have time to spend with my family, making the most memorable, hilarious, and precious moments -- and then remembering them all years from now.

Only a true Disney fan would know what I mean when I say that Entering into WDW is like entering into a whole new life. Like you are living this alternate world where everything that was, doesn't matter. WDW is a vacation from the everyday usual. The thoughts of impressing peers, (you know you ALL do it one time or another) and the worry of completing an assignment, finding the right clothes to wear. When I wake up in the morning at WDW, this rush of excitement fills my body from toe to finger tips and everyday ends beautifully.

There really is NO easy, clear, or even good way to explain it...but I know it is there -- the reason why I love WDW -- and nothing can take it away from me. I won't ever lose sight of the one thing I was told never to forget...I won't ever part with what my imagination has given me; what I give it.

In WDW, I am a free spirit, free to live my life through my heart, not always my brain lol.

(geez, I hope that wasn't too long!! LOL)

mmm why DO i love disney? i think it's 'cos before u go to disney you're living in a world with lots of challenges and issues to face..then u go to disney. Nothing matters, u can be havin a really bad hair day, not have any make up on (for the girls), and u could be wearing a t-shirt with a huge food stain on. But hey it doesn't matter 'cos it's disney. No one's there to judge you. They just wanna fun!! You don't really have to act ur real age but instead u can let the kid inside u come out.

i love disney because i do?

i don't really remember anything when i was about 2-6 years old but my parents say i watched beauty and the beast every day so much that it broke, so did mary poppins and peter pan. Also i was told that when i was born i was put in a cot with Mickey on the blankets (or something like that) so it seems i've been a disney fan since i was about 1 hour old...

at WDW you can forget about the outside world because it's so magical and unlike many other parks i've been to it has theming (went to thorpe park and the only theming they actually had was in one section where a tidal wave supposedly hit and all the other parts of the park was bland)
