Well the first thing to say is that if anyone told me I would be buying the time share before DVC, I would have told them they were nuts!.........Just not my thing!
Also every one does WDW there own way, in there own buget and tastes!...We are campers, we started with a pop up tent camper and moved up to a travel trailer and love it !..This was our big vacations, long weekends and maybe a week..never did we do motel/ hotels!
The DVC let us have a great week vacations every year or 2 years........we really enjoy the disney pampering, the deluxe resorts both the DVC and the other non disney Hotels around the country and world. Don't forget the
DCL as well... All things we could never have done without the DVC.
As for the costs.....we brought into OKW 1995, payed $14,000 over time, for 230 points. dues started at 600 a year and now are about 900 after 15 years. The DVC payed for itself in the first 5 vacations. When our time runs out in 2038 we will be long gone and I'll let the kids decide what they want to do!
We have always planned our trips ahead of time and rarely had a problem getting reservations in any resort, but find we when stay at WDW we like OKW the best. Its theming and a bit layed back.....(remember our opinion, not for everyone).
Some folks mentioned perks and rules change..........yes they have and in my mind for the better sometimes...gee welcome to life!
I don't want to start a smoking issue as I do enjoy a fine Havana (don't ask) now and then, but blaming DVC for no smoking rules that are the same around the country is not fair.
I can honestly say if WE had it to do over again we would in a heart beat.
Just our opinion!
