Why doesn't WDW build a value resort with 2 bedrooms?

Obviously, a 2 bedroom "room" would be more expensive than a single bedroom but it could still be priced as a value resort room and have the same value resort amenities (or lack thereof). They have this availability in some of the deluxe resorts. After reading several posts addressing why many people stay offsite, I get the impression that many continue to stay offsite so that parents and kids can have separate bedrooms. Imagine that.....parents wanting a separate bedroom from their kids....on vacation . I know that some of the rooms in value resorts have a joining door between 2 rooms but I don't think this availability is guaranteed. I know that I would be more than a little leary to put young children in a totally separate room beside me.

When we brought our teenage niece and nephew and booked a value, I was guaranteed connecting rooms. The CM told me they didn't want to babysit our kids.

They don't do that because they make more money putting people that need more space into Deluxe hotels. Same thing with these so called fire codes that limit the values to 4 people. There may well be a fire code, but I can almost guarentee that Disney initiated the idea. The idea behind Disney is to make money, plain and simple. They have the ultimate marketing department and they have been around long enough to know how to get the most money out of people.

Disney didn't initiate fire codes. Fire codes are based on a system of number of people allowed per square feet of usable floor space. It's a formula used all over the country for every commercial space.

Now to address the topic at hand...the values are about fitting as many hotel rooms into the building as can be fit. They're basically as small a hotel room as you can squeeze four ppl into and still comply to fire codes. If you made them 2 bedroom, what would happen if those rooms didn't book? That would waste money. Easier to just have some adjoining rooms which can be guaranteed to a certain extent; after all, there are a finite number of them.

And in terms of making money....for a family of 5.......

A 2 room "value suite" couldn't sell for the price of a deluxe room because it would lack the ammenities people people paying $300 a night would expect. If they were priced way less, then people would book those rooms and not the more expensive deluxe room.

I love Embassy Suites and they are my favorite chain to stay with. But, we're staying at AKL because we want to be inside Disney.

Maybe instead of a 2 rooom value suite, just having some value rooms that would hold 5 people would be nice....a double, set of bunks and a twin, or 2 doubles and murphy, one double, one bunk set with the double bottom and twin top bunk....hey that last one wouldn't take up any more floor space than the current 2 doubles take up!

My understanding is that adjoining rooms ARE guaranteed if there will be minors in the room. Otherwise, its just a request like any other request.

Aren't you guaranteed a connecting room at all the resorts if one of the rooms has only children? That's what I've always heard anyway.
