Why Doesn't Disney Like Me????

Okay, okay, geez.....

I know it's not just me. I know a lot of people are in the same boat. I know I should be happy about the free dining. I know I'm going to Disney. I know we're going to have a great vacation. In fact---I DO KNOW ALL THESE THINGS.

I was trying to be tongue-in-cheek because it does seem like every day there's a new strike against those of US (Look---I didn't say just me!!!!) who booked an August vacation package at a non-selected hotel.

I don't believe for one minute that the FP situation will have no effect on the rest of us. How can it not? You add a whole bunch of people pulling extra FPS and there's going to be some sort of repercussion. FPs aren't unlimited, are they?

If you all want to judge me as Debbie Downer from just a couple posts, go ahead. I know that's not the case.

Well you imply with the tongue and cheek reference that you are just joking around and seeing the irony of it all, but then you start talking immediately about the fastpass situation again and how it will affect you and others.

Clearly this whole fastpass+ situation really bothers you.

Dear OP,
You are still getting to go to WDW!!!!! At least you weren't like me and had to postpone your trip twice just this summer and now have to go at the busiest time of the year. You were told last week that the fridges weren't being pulled. I feel bad that you can't seem to find even one little reason at all to be happy that you're going. As PP said, this is a first world problem. There are billions of other people in the world and some of them probably don't even know that WDW exists.

Signed,
Girl who was supposed to be at BOG right now and eating grey stuff to celebrate being done with chemo

Okay, I get it. I'm obviously the only one who ever complains about anything trivial at all. No, it wasn't meant to completely serious, gloom and doom. I'm trying to not make a big deal of it, but it is frustrating. And gets more frustrating as these little glitches come up.

Yes, I mentioned the FP again---because others were commenting on it and I replied. Shame on me.

I didn't realize not being 100% over the top, super excited, crazy happy, overjoyed, thrilled, absolutely every minute of every day was such an anomaly. I thought everyone had their moments...and these have been mine. Nothing more.

I'll make sure I only post positive, upbeat, happy, thankful, sunshine and rainbow posts from now on!

Geez, can't anyone vent around here? The fast pass thing would bug me as well.

Anyway, you're on the right track. My best vacations have always begun with a gloomy sense of foreboding. So go ahead and use this time to imagine all the horrible things that might happen and then you'll be pleasantly surprised.:)

Venting is one thing, but the last couple threads I've seen the OP start have been to complain about how the vacation is just not going to be that great. I think that's probably a big reason for some having such a negative response to this thread.

You need to read the other threads on these boards.

If you don't link your ticket to your KTTW card, you can double dip. 5 pages now on that thread about how well it works: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3147052

And there is a webpage up that at least at the moment appears to be letting anyone with a room-only reservation reserve a "fast pass" for BOG lunch. No one is sure they will actually go through - it may have been meant only for random "invited" guests - but plenty of people have already grabbed them just in case: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3149450

(To the OP: Try your Magical Express confirmation number if you have it to try and book the BOG fast pass - people are now reporting success with that.)

Lol, the poster said they might be wrong. Maybe rather than telling them they needed to read every thread on the board to give an opinion you need to stop reading every thread so that you quit comparing your vacation with others.

I'm confused. In the very first sentence of her this thread, she says that she is excited and can't wait and she is happy about FD.

These things can be annoying with FP and BOG and definitely the refrigerators, on and on.

JMO :)

Your magic is what you make of it.

Actually, the "last couple" threads I started were a check-in thread, trying to track which resorts had fridges or not, which bldgs, dates, etc., in the hopes this would help everyone wondering about it---not just me.

I asked about ideas for my tween boys in World Showcase and got some fantastic responses about ways to make that part of our trip special for them.

I asked what was involved in adding a day to my tickets once we're down there, in case we want an extra park day. Imagine Debbie Downer wanting extra time in the parks!

Yep, complaints all!

So true.

Actually during the last week of August, the biggest thing to worry about is hurricanes, highest probability week for the Atlantic season. Just sayin' ;)

Don't I know it! We were there in 2011 when Irene was visiting my home! Had to fly down a day early or we wouldn't have gotten out of our home airport. It was just horrible--an extra day in Disney! (JOKE--IN CASE NO ONE GOT IT!) And the year before that we had another major storm hit up here while we were in WDW and didn't know if we'd be able to fly home--turns out it passed by the time of our flight and we were good.

And, see, I didn't even include the weather in my list of horrible complaints. Guess I'm doing good! ;)

We went down before Sandy last year, yikes. Was glad to be out of NJ, but it was hard getting back.

Here you go.... :)

Oh, great, one more thing for me to obsess, worry, and complain about! Doesn't Disney know they're supposed to cancel all storms whenever I visit??? Okay, I need to go back and edit my list to include this.... :rotfl2:

I think PhotoChick was probably referring to the "Not Feeling the Magic" thread and other random comments you've made on fastpass+ threads or fridge threads.

I'll start by saying we're going in less than four weeks and I'm super excited and can't wait. We did get Free Dining and that's terrific! But it seems like every day I come on here, I find yet another reason why I feel the cards are stacked against our vacation! Am I the only one feeling this way????

1. Refrigerator situation---we may or may not have one, we may or may not get compensation, we may or may not have enough ice to fill the cooler I now have to fold up and shove in my suitcase for the trip down.

2. FP+ -- Nope, we're not at one of the selected resorts. So now all those people double dipping (if that is actually allowed--which I suspect it will be) will only make FPs harder to get for us common people. One way or another, there will either be longer lines or fewer FPs available--neither option good.

3. BOG -- Now I see that if I had a room only res, I'd be able to book a time for lunch, sort of FP style. Well, I made the mistake buying a package through Disney so I'm not eligible for that. So longer line again for us common people.

4. FP KTTW/Tickets -- Now I see that if you have a ticket not linked to your key card, you can actually pull two sets of FPs for the same ride. Once again, I bought everything through Disney, so it's all linked and I'll only be able to get one set, where others can get two.

So I buy everything through Disney and they reward me by giving special treatment to other people! Thanks! I think I'm starting to take this personally! ;)

Sounds like someone is just being negative and slightly paranoid. Relax, and enjoy your trip - stop thinking about 'what' may or may not impact your trip. Enjoy the magic! pixiedust: We make it what it is - it's not handed to you.

Just a word of truly well intended advice...

If one is upset about a benefit that only some have and many of them don't know they have it (probably an unintended benefit)... and you feel badly that you don't have it...don't keep informing/reminding people of it or you are working against yourself. :confused3

I have many concerns about the whole magic band/ FP+ thing myself but I am going with my sister who hasn't been in five years and I am focusing on using all the knowledge I've picked up on the boards over the years to make sure that she will have a relaxing trip.

Congrats on the free dining. I teach and I can never take advantage of it :headache:.

Well, the teaching part is good, just the no free dining is :headache: I did get a kids eat and play free pin once when the girls were younger. That was the BEST ever. :thumbsup2

P.S. I do think Disney could have done a better job making the back-up for Magic Bands more specific for those testing.

Without touching on anything else here anymore I would like to reply to say CONGRATS to you!!!!

I hope you are able to make it back when now planned to celebrate such a wonderful triumph! :cheer2: Just another reason for everyone else to count their blessings! :flower3:

Right. So we all should just not bother to think that what someone else posted just MIGHT have a basis in fact and research it a little before we post our random guesses. Just preface it all with "Well I may be wrong but...".

Let's try it: "Well I may be wrong, but I believe that Disney is now giving FREE hotel rooms and tickets to everyone"

Oh wait - that's not helpful at all, now is it?
