Why doesn't Disney have a loyal customer program??

I realize that Disney has employees who frequently peruse these threads. I was wondering about a rewards program. Does anyone know why Disney doesn't do this? It could all me done through MDE and you are assigned a rewards number. Dining at their restaurants( while making ressies through MDE), hotel stays and ticket purchases could all be tracked. Points can be given and rewards issued. Percentages off dining, experiences, tickets and hotel are all types of rewards that they can offer. I just find it odd that this as never been done. Is there truly no need for this? People feel brand loyal especially if they belong to a "rewards club". Wouldn't this be beneficial to Disney? Thoughts??

Disney raises prices across the board, and more people come.

I don't know how or why, but it seems to be true. And by the way, I'm one of those people who keeps on paying :)

They have Annual Passes to cover people who go several times a year. I think they want the people who make a yearly trek to buy into DVC...that is their focus for new resorts lately.
There are also Bounceback offers.

I do also have a Chase Disney Rewards credit card, and I earn Disney dollars that way. There are some modest discounts when using the card at Disney Parks.

And also, thinking more critically here, we've cut back a bit. On our most recent trip we packed 5 people into a Value room (twins under 3). We only went to a park for one day, and did a lot of cheap/free stuff around WDW. But that's not necessarily a result of higher prices alone. It's also because we see more to WDW than just the parks.

disney gets my money even at times of rack rate.
a loyalty program wouldn't change anything for me.

They do pin codes, rewards points for CC holders, TIW, DVC, AP discounts, etc.

They just don't have a traditional loyalty program. And they really don't need to.

Many years ago, there was the Magic Kingdom Club which provided discounts at the resorts and on tickets. I think you received about a 5% discount on tickets. Discounts at the resorts ranged from 10% to 35%, depending on the time of year. The club was available to people who worked for large cooperations and also state and federal employees. There was a version, Magic Kingdom Club Gold Card, which anyone could join for about $40 for a 2 year membership. There was a quarterly magazine, Disney News, which was sent to members. I really hated it when the club was ended, around 2001. Disney claimed at the time that the club was being replaced by the Disney Visa.

There were several times when Magic Kingdom Club members were offered a special rate at resorts which were getting ready to open. You could stay at the resort a week or two before it officially opened so that CM's had the opportunity to "break in" the new resort with acutal guests. I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge about four days before it "officially" opened. The Magic Kingdom Club rate was about 60% off the rack rate. When you made your reservation, you were told that not all of the faciliites and amenties at the resort may be operating.

They also have record attendance and something like 89% of the hotel capacity filled (according to various things I read).

I also don't think they have the competition. It's not a hotel chain that you can choose to stay at on any vacation that you go on...it's a destination in and of itself.

They do have some sort of loyalty program for the cruises, right? Well, there is a lot of competition in the cruise industry. How many destination theme parks are there?

'This' is why!!!! Why should they have a reward program from their viewpoint?? It would just cost them money - and not get more guests - they seemed to be packed most times now that people can come.

I'm just 'very' surprised they offer 'any' discounts as people would 'still' come and pay the prices!! :confused3

Rewards programs cost a company, which means they have to recoup that lost income, somehow. Since Walgreen's initiated their rewards program, their prices are no longer as competitive, as in the past.

Disney already has huge draws, without a rewards program. Disney looks at bottom line. It's doubtful that their bottom line would increase with the initiation of such a plan.

They do have one. It's called I can't get enough Disney and whether they have a deal or not I'm gonna go plan. Membership is free and renewed every time I wake up.

When we first started going to Disney we were part of the Magic Kingdom Club. It gave exclusive discounts for resorts and on and on. It was discontinued somewhere around 2000. I believe it was a program Disney had with corporations. We were offered the card when we went to check discounts through the company my DH worked for.

Like others have posted, regardless of what Disney does, raising ticket prices, charging hundreds and hundreds of dollars per night for a hotel room, it doesn't matter, people still come and pay those prices. Regardless of what companies say, customer rewards are rarely to reward the customer, they are in place to generate repeat business whether its gas points to buy groceries, cash back to use a credit card (does that measly amount of cash back even come close to covering the interest?), free round trip flight after 12 trips, etc. etc. the whole point is to make you choose them and not some other grocery store, airline, credit card, etc. Disney doesn't need to do that, they charge what they want and we keep paying it, they lower service and we keep paying it, the food quality goes down and we keep buying it. Its Disney and we love them, that's our reward.

Pin codes are fantastic if you get them, but so frustrating if you don't!! With our cable bill or when we buy a car sometimes they will throw in something like a gas card- Disney agents don't seem to be able to do this. This year feeling very frustrated by the no pin because the summer deal sucks. Our package has gone up drastically this year and there is nothing new.
