Why doesn't anyone like The Plaza?

Everytime someone asks on this board where to eat at MK for lunch, everyone always says Liberty Tree Tavern (or CP/CRT for characters). LTT menu looked too heavy for us for lunch so we were leaning towards sandwiches at the Plaza and the kids can get fries/burgers.

Is the Plaza food bad? Or do people just recommend LTT more because it's more bang for your buck under the dining plan? Or is The Plaza the same quality as CS food?

Would love to hear your thoughts since every post I read on here never even mentions the Plaza for lunch.

Thanks in advance!!

We are not on dining plan so that's not an issue for us. W

On our last trip we decided to try out the Plaza too- not on dining plan. The food was good, not great though. Service was fine. We probably wouldn't go back now that we tried it because we felt that it was very similar to counter service meals with a higher price.

I think the bolded part is the answer. Most reviews of the Plaza I have seen have been favorable.

Nothing special about the Plaza - it's apparently your basic sandwich shop. Also relatively inexpensive, which means dining plan users might be somewhat reluctant to spend a credit there. Most guests apparently want something a little more out of the ordinary. But I haven't seen a lot of bad reviews of the food.

The vegetable sandwich there is the best :) I love the plaza, as it usually isn't overcrowded and is less expensive. We don't use DDP, but even if you were using DDP, does every meal have to be the most expensive thing you can get your hands on?

The food is fine. We don't go there because we think the selection is a little limited and the restaurant seems overcrowded every time we pass by.

We LOVE the Plaza and it is our last meal of every trip. But we are also of the mindset that we don't look to see if it is "a big bang for our buck" on the dining plan. We don't care about the prices...we care about the food and the service. After all the heavy meals we eat all during our trip on the dining plan, the Plaza is our one "simple food" meal that we have thoroughly enjoyed in over ten visits.

I always recommend LTT for lunch because the food is very good and so is the service. Its a never miss for us.

We've been twice to the Plaza deli and the food is okay, nothing special but the service was bad both times and I don't think we will be back. I remember the last time, the guy at the table next to us asked us, are they always this slow in here (or something to that effect).

I also agree about your bolded statement. People want to come out on top of the dining plan by always trying to order the most expensive meals. Eating at the plaza is just the opposite. The price is around the same as CS burgers. So I guess they feel theyre not making the most of the dining plan by eating there, because its so inexpensive. I have to admit im guilty of doing that as well. I try to order the most expensive things. Lol. Having said that, I have heard very few negative comments about the Plaza. The only complaint i've heard a couple of times was about slow service. But thats it.

I always recommend Liberty Tree because the food is absolutely delish. its one of my fave places to eat!

I think the food there is fine. And the desserts are yummy!

A few years ago I had lunch at The Plaza and I thought it was good, however I just happen to like eating at Liberty Tree Tavern and Tony's Town Sqaure a bit more.

We love plaza. We have always had great meals and excellent service. Sure its a bit slower than cs places but we like the break from the crowds and heat. The food has always been delish and fresh for us. You can't beat the milkshakes, although other places in the other parks have great shakes too.

I really enjoy The Plaza. Good, simple, light food and relatively inexpensive.

It's a problem for DDP users as the cost of the meal is too low for it to be worth a credit, and since roughly half of the users on the board have DDP taken into account, it plays a part. However, the food itself is just fine.

I don't use the dining plan so I don't care what the prices are -- I eat where I like the food best, and Plaza is way better than LTT in my book.

We didn't have a very good experience. Our server asked what side I would like and I like her know that I didn't want a side (I was polite!) And she said "just let me finish!" and begin naming all of the sides. We both couldn't believe the way she snapped at me. I've never had any server do that before. The food was ok, nothing great but not too bad.

They are both good as far as food quality, I prefer LTT due to it's central location and because of my weakness to pot roast! If they moved the Plaza further in the park, I might eat there more often!

I honestly didn't know the Plaza existed until just about a week ago when I was helping a friend plan a trip, and it kept coming up as available for an ADR at just about any time of day. I don't even know where it is!?!?!

Also, I can't believe that it's a table service restaurant! Crazy!

Count me in as one who loves the Plaza as well. It's usually quieter and slower paced, which can be wonderful after a hectic morning in the parks. The sandwiches are very good, better than most CS places. And the deserts are wonderful.
