Why does Tiffany Town car need my credit card???

I have now decided to follow the recommendation on this board and have booked Tiffany Town Car to pick us up in Sandford. I booked online and it say that I need to call them and have my credit card number on me when calling. But I thought we had to pay the driver and not in advance.... Not that it's a problem, I was just wondering...

Most transportation companies take a credit card # to hold a reservation. Usually there is some policy regarding cancellation or no shows. Most will bill your card if you no show or don't cancel by the agreed cancellation time.

read their terms. i am sure it would be to charge you a no show fee.

they are taking a risk by reserving a car and driver to pick you up. they have to get paid if you dont show.
