I know for a fact that Israeli's response was criticized in the media as "disproportionate".

And that somehow makes the media "leftist"?Charade said:I know for a fact that Israeli's response was criticized in the media as "disproportionate".
And the US left is way to the right of the left in Europe. Did that make sense? The left here would be the center in places like the UKnightowlky said:There is no "leftist" mentality in American politics. "Leftist" would be someone like Hugo Chavez or Morales down in Bolivia. The Democratic Party is very centrist as long as it's largely controlled by the DLC. Dean is a Progressive liberal but HARDLY a leftist.
Your abuse of political terms is merely bleating the right-wing memes of the last 20+ years.

Not really. It's the co-opting of the GOP by the neoconservatives that have pushed the Republican Party further and further to the right. There's darn near a McCarthyesque mentality to the push toward restoring oppressive social conservative policies on Americans. The ever-increasing love of war to effect foreign policy coupled with the increasing socially conservative bent has pushed traditional conservatives like myself away from the Republican party and seeking other candidates that match our opinions and beliefs in how America should be run.Galahad said:I think you're largely right. Do you share the same benign position with respoect to the Republican Party?
Not when it accurately describes the opinions/ideals of the person being discussed.MickeyMouseGal said:So, 'Freeper' isn't an abuse of political terms.![]()
Awww, you aren't a liberal, Charade?Charade said:Those are legitmate questions and in predictable fashion the left attempts to laugh it off instead of addressing the issues.

If you post that one more time in this thread you might be lucky.MickeyMouseGal said:Oh, for goodness sakes.![]()

Kendra17 said:How is defending our country love of war? This obscene slander accusing our own country or Israel of warmongering in defense of their own lands is repulsive, yet fully typical of the absurd out-of-touch conspiracy oriented so-called memes of the democratic uber-left in the United States. Why do you not criticize hamas or hezbollah for using civilians as human shields? Your criticism is typical of the left who believe that any use of force is "disproportionate" no matter the cause. it appears that the left, unbelievably anti-war and protective of the "rights of islamists and terrorists" in the legal system at home and abroad, believes that the united states is wrong. it doesn't matter the issue, or the discussion, the United States is wrong. Think about, just for a moment, if you possibly can, what would have been the response if the recent let's-destroy-10-American-planes-and-kill-thousands plot had not been stopped!!
Of course we would have! Just like we went in and bombed the Saudis after we linked them to 9/11.Kendra17 said:Do you think the response might have been disproportionate? Do you think we would bomb Tehran if we found a link to them in the recent attack? Of course we would and be fully justified.
I think that's something we can all agree on.Kendra17 said:As a sovereign state we have a right to self-defense. So does Israel. but the left believes that use of state power, specifically military power, is just wrong. Hey, civilians are being killed! Hey, cluster bombs are being used! Hey, civilian areas are being targeted!!
Guess what? War is a horrible thing. But it is a truth and a reality that even the left cannot escape. We are at war, despite any arguments or discussions you care to have on the matter.
Kendra17 said:We have a right, and the government has a responsibility to defend the nation. My opinion is that the US government has not done near enough. if there is another attack... you will then see the meaning of "disproportion" writ large for all to see.
