Why does school system wait until morning

I live in Texas and our school district is always one of the last to cancel. Alot of times, area districts are cancelled and we still go.

But, I understand why. It is a real pain to make up days. And I think they lose money if they don't meet certain requirements. It's all about the money

For this latest storm (we got almost 8 inches), I got my phone call around midnight Wednesday, from my boss (I'm a lunch lady), telling me school was closed on Thursday. She called me around 11pm Thursday to tell me school was closed on Friday, too. I don't know when the public was told, via radio or television announcements.
