to make reservations at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall for breakfast on dec 18? I have the free DDP 5 nights/6 days so I should have 5 TS right? I ahve used 4 and then it wants a credit card when I ty to reserve ARBH

The credit card is just for back-up. If you don't show for the ADR or don't cancel within 2 days of your ADR, you're charged $10 per person. As long as neither happens, your card won't get charged.

ETA: credit cards are also required for CRT; Spirit of Aloha; and Hoop-dee-doo

I had to give one for California Grill and the Fantasmic package as well.

I think Victoria and Albert's may also require one (but it isn't on the dining plan anyway).

I knew I was forgetting at least one. Yeah, I had to give CC info when I booked Fantasmic! too. Thanks!

I've never had my CC changed. they do charge $1.00 on it when they take it though. I thought that was strange but it falls off

California Grill, Akershus, Fantasmic Packages, CP Packages, V&A, and some other specialty packages will have a credit card hold associated with the reservation (Dining Plan usage does not matter for this). If you don't show up or cancel within a certain timeframe, then a nominal charge will be placed on the card.

CRT, HDDR, SoA, and Mickey's Backyard BBQ are pre-paid experiences. This means that the full value of the meals/tickets will be charged at booking. If you have an appropriate dining plan attached to an on-site reservation, then these prepayments are merely holds. If you don't cancel or show up, then the full value of the meal/tickets will be charged.

If reserving online, you can tell the difference by the amount it quotes you as having to "pay today". If that value is $0 and it asks for your credit card, that means it's a hold. If the value is not $0, then it's a prepay. Also to note, oftentimes the Dinner Shows and CRT are not picking up associated dining plans while booking online, and as such are requiring pre-payment. There's no way around this other than to call. Alternatively, you can get refunded at the restaurant when they charge your dining plan.

It depends on the issuing bank to display that charge or not. It's a common practice to make sure that the card is active and valid. Have to be careful with debit cards though, as (again depending on your bank) you can be hit with overdraft fees if applicable.

How about this scenario. Does anyone know if there will be a charge if I make the reservation for 6 people and only 4 show up at Akershus?

You will be charged for the missing people.

At least, that is what I told in reference to California Grill and the Fantasmic Package. We may lose one of our party and the CM was very clear to point out that I would need to cancel them 24 hours in advance or I would be charged for one cancellation.

From personal experience I can tell you, you will be charged for the people that don't show up. We were. I woke up ill that morning, so sent the rest of my family on thinking we wouldn't be charged as long as our party showed up. After we returned home, I went online to pay off my credit card and found the charge from Akershus. Out of simple curiosity I called about it and the CM was immediately able to tell me we were charged because we showed up one person short at Akershus.

Hi,
My credit card was charged the full amount for CRT. I have the dining plan. I assumed it was only going to get charged if we didn't show up, but I just received my credit card bill and the charge is on there. What happens now? Can anyone verify that I will get refunded at the restaurant?

Thanks
Kristin

I would definitely call them ASAP.

As far as I've understood they shouldn't have charged the card whether your on the dining plan or not.

It's only taken in case of no shows as PP's have said.

I have dinner ressies on Aug 24th and they took my card info but haven't charged it.

I'd definitely call to get it straightened out.

Good Luck :)

If you look above, CRT is one of the PRE-PAID experiences. If you booked on line, the system doesn't know you are on the dining plan. You should be refunded when your dining plan is charged or you can call and change it.

Yup if you booked online that is probably the reason why.

I called when I booked my ressie.

I'm sure if you call they can fix it for you.

CRT is a funky issue (as are the dinner shows). Sometimes, not all the time, but often, when booking online it won't pick up the fact you have a dining plan on your resort reservation. It's a known issue that's been present since the Online Dining Reservation was launched (last June I think). If it presents a dollar amount when reserving, you can do two things.
  1. If you're ok with paying now, go ahead and book it. You will then be refunded at the time of dining.
  2. If not ok with paying now, cancel that reservation and call Disney Dining. CMs there can manually attach the Dining Plan to these reservations (providing your resort reservation has a Dining Plan associated with it).
If you wish to be refunded now, you may also attempt to rebook (best to do it by phone) and then cancel your current reservation. There is no "converting" a reservation though, so it's a risk of losing your current time.
