Why does it matter so much?

I have seen people on these boards and others talk about how they have to stay in a room with Queen beds and can't do Double beds. They need the extra room a Queen bed provides.

But a Queen bed is only 6 inches wider than a double. For 2 ppl sleeping in the bed that means each person only has 3 extra inches of bed from the Double to the Queen.

SO I ask you, does it really matter or is it all a mental thing needing the Queen beds because in your mind you feel it is much bigger?

It matters to us. The last time we slept in a double bed, I fell out. Hahaha!

eta: I am sure it's also a matter of what people are used to. Just like some people say they can not drive a sedan after driving an SUV for a while. To go from a king at home to a double on vacation is a big difference.

We have a king at home and get a king at hotels as well. My Hubby radiates heat so a few inches would make a difference to me :)

Both of the above apply to me (except for the falling out part), plus we have a DD who still climbs into our bed at times. A double would be VERY crowded for 3!:rotfl2:

We will take doubles if we have to (DH's only trip was at ASMo), but when choosing hotel rooms, if there is a reasonable choice between Q & D, we go for Q.

Heck, I sleep alone and I want that Queen bed! I stretch out from one side of the bed to the other.

If I were to share a bed, that extra 6 inches is NOT split between. I get the whole extra 6 inches to myself! :rotfl2:

Yes. A few inches make a difference! We have a Cali King at home and in hotels with Kings, DH's feet hang off the edge!

Doesn't sound like much but it DOES make a BIG difference.

We sleep in a king at home, so dropping down to a double feels really small. A queen is do-able though.

My husband is 6'5" and I am 5'9". We like our space.

It's my vacation and if I want to sleep in a bed at least as big as the one in my bedroom, that's what I'm doing. Again, it's my vacation. Last year, my husband and I ended up sleeping in separate beds for the 1st time in our lives because I thought we could settle. It was awful. I'm still in love with my husband and we want to be comfortable and also sleep together. Yes, it matters.

Cool!

6" 3" - no big deal right?

I'll make sure I let my contractors know that if they make the bridge 3" to 6" too short it's just not a big deal. ;)

(just messin with ya)

Well for one, why do YOU care (OP) what size bed other people want or need on their vacations?

But while we're talking size, a queen bed is 5" LONGER than a double as well.

I can barely sleep in a CA King with my husband. The man kicks in his sleep. If we had a full or even a queen, I would be in harm's way!

We have a queen at home but I didn't even notice the beds at WDW were doubles. We were perfectly comfortable, so it's not a big deal to us at all. But I am only 4'11 and my hubby is 6' so we're not really big enough to need much room.

DH & I did this when we ended up with a double/double. It wasn't ideal.

I care for the same reason anybody else cares about when asking a question on a message board.

Did you really 'expect' that anyone was going to say no...... lol

It's the Dis......justify your decisions to the bitter end.

ETA: but it would be more fun if these kinds of questions really resulted in us pondering some of the things we do/think, wouldn't it? Sadly, there's fat chance of that :)
