why does everyone hate dvc?

I LOVE my DVC and not just for going to WDW. I agree that sometimes that is the best 'value' for our points. However, we bought DVC so we could do other things as well such as cruising, going to HHI, enjoying VB along with exchanges. Over the past 10 years we have done each and everyone of those items many times over.

I have no bitter feelings towards DVC or management of DVC in any fashion. Being in the business world myself sometimes tough decisions have to be made and at the time they are presented...they don't make sense to folks. Usually down the road, the vision of the leaders is seen and the change was all for the better. If it ends of not being for the better then guess what, another change is made.

Don't sweat the small stuff and just sit back and enjoy your DVC life....:cheer2:

I read that post as well, before it was posted here, and I felt the tone was kind of snotty!! She wasn't venting about buying into DVC, just that everything is hitting at once. I don't see anyone on the DVC thread stating, I just don't like DCL cruises....blah blah blah...KWIM???:confused3

I understand how you feell...we are cruising in May as well, and we will have alot hit us in JUNE!! Fun fun!!

My neighbor returned from a recent trip to the Mouse and says he thinks DVC is taking over WDW. (We didn't mention that we're members.) Other than that, I haven't seen many "hate" posts about DVC - or timeshares in general. It's a given that not everyone will love them.

DisFlan

No hate here. Only lots of . For that matter we recently celebrated our 14th anniversary.

i wrote a post last week about how i'll be glad when this month is over.

everything is hitting us at the same time. dvc payment, annual dues, high credit cards thanks to christmas, dd's school fees, final payment for our cruise, and a few other things.

i was honestly just venting about how glad i'll be when Feb is over and what happenes. a bunch of people rag on and on about how they hate time share.

WOW - hate much???

:lmao:
Never, ever post a vent, no matter how small and say you have a dvc especially on the resort boards or the budget board. fire and brimestone will rain down on your head.

Either we are collossial idiots for purchasing a dvc, or we are a bunch of spoiled rich kids because we can go ever year.

not just my posts but so many others i've seen.

i only wish that last part was true - i don't think i'd care what anyone thinks if i was rich and spoiled LOL

To the original poster, Jan 22 is historically one of the most depressing days of the year because that is when credit card statements come in from Dec holidays.

I love DVC. I know people have had issues with the current changes. I am fortunate not to be one of them.

It is understandable though that if one who stays Mon to Thurs only and wanted to get 25 point add on at BLT, then it is upsetting to have these changes because it feels like the carpet was pulled out from under. While many will stand by incredulous that people will feel that way (didn't they read the fine print...), I know it is hard to believe some of these changes. Again, I am not affected this time around. But maybe next time...

By the way, even before I became a DVC member, I had people who were annoyed with me because we went to Disney on free dining a couple of times. Hey, I told you about it! :rolleyes1

Were they annoyed that you went to Disney often or annoyed that you got free dining?

see that kills me - is it a jealousy thing because someone's getting something they didn't or do people just not get how adults can like disney as much or more then kids do?

it's funny - it's not like we went all the time when we were kids - we only went once and even though we grew up on saturday night disney movie (with walt introducing the movie and inevitably talking about how the idea came about or some backstage info) but still i'm not a huge fan of some of the older films - like the animated stuff but love the pixar stuff now but the first time dh took me (when we were just dating) i stood in front of the castle during the first show (some gift celebration with huge gifts moving around the stage) and cried. couldn't explain it.

so we love disney - and yes i'm a bit jealous that others get free dining since we never go at the right time and wouldn't get it now anyways. but then again used to be a bit jealous of people who go on cruises (until now because we're going on our first one in may) but it's not like i would put down their choices on vacation

I just want to chime in and say that I LOVE DVC. We've been members for almost three years and I still think it's the best thing we've ever bought!!! :lovestruc

I could never hate a system that gives me the best available resort acommodations for the cost of my annual fees every year. We have been members since 98 and our original investment and our additional purchase have long been paid for over the years.
And I was a member back when the perks were outstanding, and have seen them tighten. And I was mad about losing ticket perks and losing pool hopping and infuriated at the loss of mugs in the studios!
But when facing the thought that if I sold I couldn't count on my next trip to Disney World, I couldn't cut off my nose to spite my face.
There is nothing like belonging to my Boardwalk. When they say "welcome home", they have no idea how close they are to how I feel about being there.
Now if Disney would start selling burial plots... just kidding, unless anyone knows anything... maybe something near the Haunted Mansion? DVC-BP-HM?

I still love DVC & OKW even if I'm not pleased by some of the changes. In fact, I'm having Disney withdrawls. I have a week in June but that's far away!
