i wrote a post last week about how i'll be glad when this month is over.

everything is hitting us at the same time. dvc payment, annual dues, high credit cards thanks to christmas, dd's school fees, final payment for our cruise, and a few other things.

i was honestly just venting about how glad i'll be when Feb is over and what happenes. a bunch of people rag on and on about how they hate time share.

WOW - hate much???

I don't know about anybody else, but we love our DVC. There have been many changes over the years and most of them were not for the better, but I still think it's a great way to vacation at WDW. When we used to come every two years and stay at a deluxe resort, I think it was far more expensive than DVC. Yes, there are lots of great discounts available now, but that wasn't always the case and there's no way to predict how long they will last. We're very happy, happy enough to have just purchased 102 BLT points.

I still love my DVC and am still very happy with my decision.

However, I was telling my interested BIL all about DVC the other day, and accidentally talked him out of it.

Since they had cold feet about a purchase, I had suggested that they get some transferred points for a trip in July. I called MS and BWV and BCV both had several days already booked, and VWL was filling up quickly. Of course, CRO had all of the rooms available, and you could get in at OKW and SSR with no problems. They are so in love with BC, and figured out the total cost of the long term commitment. No BC on 5 months notice, was a deal breaker.

I doubt that they will ever dip their toes in the water again. Of course, I'm glad they learned about this deal breaker BEFORE they bought instead of AFTER.

There are pitfalls these days, and if you really dig into DVC, you will find them. I realy hate that because it is a really great product.

People in other parts of the Dis-boards just don't understand that DVC is not a traditional timeshare. And frankly, I'm not sure that traditional timeshares are all that bad either.

Are you having a bad day, there were only 9 posts on that thread and 3 were yours, I didn't see any hating DVC or anything remotely close. Bottom line is there are people who love and people who hate DVC that is part of life. There are people unhappy about the changes and there are some that aren't it is called life. Sorry you are down but this is a message board where all people have opinions and some you won't like. Hope you have a great cruise.

ohhh that's so cute.

i think maybe i'll print that off and create door magnet :)

Thanks Mel.

I read the post and wouldn't say everyone was hating on TS. I use to run my mouth about TS and said how horrible it was etc etc.

Then I did the research and found out if you are smart about it and find what fits your situation they are awesome. Don't think our family will ever be able to stay in a hotel room again. DVC is expensive but if it fits your situation can be a good thing.

But yeah can't wait for the economy to start moving in the other direction!!!

actually my day is going fine thanks.

just got me thinking about posts i've seen in the past where people go on about how they hate timeshares.

Timeshares in general have a reputation for being a bad deal and quickly depreciating. DVC on the other hand has only gone up in value. I bought BWV almost 10 years ago at $65 a point, I could sell it for more now after 10 years of wonderful vacations.

I don't hate the DVC, but I do have a lot of truthful negative posts. I don't care for the way that Disney is currently doing business and I hope they wake up before they ruin what Walt Disney , Roy and company worked so hard to achieve.

You will learn over time a lot of people don't get it. I don't post on other forums anymore because there are a lot of anti DVC people out there. I was always getting beat up with negative comments. People in my own home town look at us like were nuts because we vacation at Disney every year. They just don't get it. Only other Dvc'ers under stand.

what are they doing differently? we only bought in the middle of 07 so i dont know what it used to be like

And there really is no such thing as a traditional timeshare anymore. For many thins other timeshares are far better than DVC, for WDW stays, DVC is better, maybe. I already have two DVC stays booked this fall through RCI.

Alot of people are upset with the revised point charts for 2010, the change in booking from check-out date to check-in date, restrictions on transfers, new waitlist rules.
