Why does DVC say it's not available if I can book it on the Disney website?

Hello! New member here () with my first, post-purchase question.

We wanted to make a reservation at VWL in October/November, and according to DVC there is no availability for our dates. Of course, I'm not surprised, since that's just four months away.

But if I go to the regular Disney web site I can book those dates if I pay cash for the room.

Doe DVC set some rooms aside to "sell" as cash reservations?

The rooms that are available per your contract are owned by Disney, not the DVC Membership. Some are also available through Disney because members traded to stay somewhere other than the DVC resorts.

This really needs to be a sticky. Disney own a small percentage of rooms and can rent them out through CRO. Room are also turned over for people trading out for cruises and disney collections the cash is then used to pay the cruise line or other desitnation.

They are two sets of inventory one for members available for points and one for cash. The ones on Disney site are from the cash inventory not members inventory.

Some of this invintory is 100% dedicated to CRO but some can be pulled back, often the newer MS people forget to check. You can always tell since they put you on hold to check.
