Why does drinking always lead us back to Disney? Sept 2017 6/13 update!

I am not a fan of the kids getting bigger. lol.
My oldest is 10 and I'd like to press rewind please!!
Hope you are having a great day.

But i am on the run today. Did i tell you my drives license was expired? They don't sent notifications? Apparently they do and i never got mine.. Oh well that's rectified! PHEW!
and since i have 0 time after all my jobs i decided to take off a little early and take the boys to go and see finding DORY! YAY!!!

So i will talk soon! I hope to stay awake during it! LOL!!!

From my understanding the Christmas stuff stays up until the middle of January!
Not quite mid January, but you can definitely still catch it that first week of January.

Do you suggest the Packages? For paint the night and World of Color??
We've done the WOC dinner package at Ariel's Grotto and really enjoyed it. Although I don't think it's a "must" to enjoy WOC.

Table service:
Ariel's Grotto?
Blue Bayou
Goofy's Kitchen Breakfast.
The Plaza for Breakfast?

How are they? Should storyteller make the list? Again that is 4 table services i wasn't really going to do a TS everyday! BUT it is something we SHOULD DO?
We've done Blue Bayou, Goofy's Kitchen breakfast, and Storytellers dinner buffet.

I recommend Blue Bayou (food and ambience are :thumbsup2...ask for a table by the water). If you're being more budget conscious I can also recommend Cafe Orleans. Similar flavors with a Louisiana-type menu and their pomme frites are out of this world!! The beignets with vanilla and raspberry dips are WOAH. The gumbo and crescent city salad are yummy too.

The food at Storytellers is delicious and the service is always top-notch in our experience.

We didn't enjoy Goofy's Kitchen but I think that has to do more with us not being breakfast people :confused3 It may be worth it if you're staying at the Disneyland Hotel anyway and do enjoy breakfast.

Also what QS is a Must for all of you?
As far as quick service, our favorites are:

Plaza Inn (Main Street) - fried chicken!
Little Red Wagon (Main Street) - corn dogs are YUM (you can also get corn dogs at Stage Door Cafe)
French Market Restaurant (New Orleans Square)
Rancho del Zocalo (Frontierland)
Earl of Sandwich (Downtown Disney)
Confession: I am not a fan of the dole whip :duck:

Have i told you the kids think we are going back in 2019? Yep! Me and my devious mind has put the thought of a graduation trip to WDW in their little naive minds... Maniacal LAUGH!
Muahahaha! :smooth:

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Honestly i blinked and it was over. Hate that.
I wish weekdays flew by as quickly as weekends do :sad2:

I had every intention of going to see FINDING DORY but time is always against me.
Same here. With Father's Day, softball games, BBQs, errands...just too much. We just couldn't carve out time. But we're set to go this Saturday. Looking forward to it! :woohoo:

Can't stand the fact they are stuck in the house all day while Tom and i are at work. Nothing fun there. ( i like it since they clean the house!) Remember i DO live in Chicago. Nothing safe. and i am wreck
i bit the bullet and bought the kids all cell phones.
We send our son to day-camp all summer. He goes on tons of trips, does archery and rock climbing, cooking over a campfire, so much stuff! BUT...I still manage to feel guilty. Wish I could stay home with him at least one week. But we don't vacation in the summer because of work schedules... I think as a parent, we always wish we could do things at least a bit different, no matter the circumstances.

But really, I don't know what we'd do if day camp wasn't an option for us :scared: I remember when I was a kid (there were 3 of us - me and my two younger brothers) and being stuck at home every summer :faint: (no summer camp for us and both my parents worked). But we survived...somehow

Wish cell phones had been around back then and maybe my mom would have let us have a little more freedom (we grew up in a big city too). Good for you for biting the bullet. It's tough to see our littles growing up but knowing you can get in touch with them when needed surely puts the mind at ease.

They are just growing up way too fast!

Tell me about it. can't stand it.

Jim and I saw Finding Dory on Saturday, it was great! Jim even stayed awake this time so it must have been really good. He slept through Finding Nemo.

HA! it was great!!!

The kids took dad to see Finding Dory yesterday for fathers day! LOL yes...it was all for Dad! It was pretty good. REALLY enjoyed the short at the beginning. My daughter loved baby Dory and of coarse we stayed past the credits for the little extra surprise! I will say no more because I don't want to spoil it for you, but definitely worth a watch!

Hey when you have little ones who love Disney you do Disney movies for Father's day. It makes the day better when your kids smile and feel the LOVE!

I think this is a bullet worth biting! In today's society... they NEED cell phones at earlier ages. Back in the 80s when we were their age...everyone still had home phones, so if you needed to call home, it was no big deal as long as it was a local call, but now things are different. Our kids don't even know what a "local" call is... they only know minutes and text allowance. I didn't like my son or daughter having to ask a friend to use their friends phone because you never know if it is prepaid or not and I didn't want my kids using up their minutes/text allowance to try to call us. We live very close to the middle school too, so they walk to and from school every day and I just wanted them to have the ability to get a hold of us if they needed to. It's not like the old days where if you needed help, you could knock on someones door and get help. Now, it may be THAT person behind that door that they need help getting away from. It is a scary place and I am a little more settled in it knowing that I am at least giving my kids a way to try to get help if they need it.

You said it perfectly! I can't even add to it LOL! THANK TOU!

That's cool! I wonder how chilly it is in SoCal in January... Is it like Florida?

From what i looked at it's about low 70's and high 60's which is fine by me!! i'd hope for ONE pool day.
Anything warmer than Chicago weather is perfect for us!

This. I have run these numbers too; DD is technically free, but the way that little one eats I'll be buying her all kinds of stuff. Plus CL is SO easy and convenient...

YES YES! so i think it's like 300.00 more? well we can go through 300.00 in one day at a park! LOL..

I like this one! I've seen the script too, but I really like the little phrases first, then some more personal stuff, "See you soon Meg." "See you in September" etc

Good.. I like this idea too.. more personable.. right?

LOL! Nice job, you sneaky mom!

I am aren't i?

The worst! And it always happens on the fun days, never work days.

YES!

Good idea! Even in the mid 90's we rode around, until dusk. But by the time I was a teenager (14, I think) I got a pager and then a cell phone. Too many wackos on the loose these days.

PAGER! i totally forgot about pagers! HA HA HA! oh how i do NOT miss those!

yep yep yep!

OMG! The first trip away on her own!! that's a big one. I'd be a mess.

It's killing me i want her home NOW

Whoa! you were tired!

Dead on my behind tired.

I hope so too; Mama needs her rest as much, if not more so, than the kiddos!

Take care Mo, hope all is well!

Thank you! It's great i hope your doing good?

I am not a fan of the kids getting bigger. lol.
My oldest is 10 and I'd like to press rewind please!!
Hope you are having a great day.

No!! kids need to SLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW Down with this growing thing!

Oh i wish there was a rewind button.. i wish i had more video of them too..

Not quite mid January, but you can definitely still catch it that first week of January.

YAY!

We've done the WOC dinner package at Ariel's Grotto and really enjoyed it. Although I don't think it's a "must" to enjoy WOC.

Loads of people recommend Blue Bayou! this might get pushed up my must eat places.

The food at Storytellers is delicious and the service is always top-notch in our experience.

This is good news! I would like to keep it to possibly keep it to 2 TS this trip??? maybe?

We didn't enjoy Goofy's Kitchen but I think that has to do more with us not being breakfast people :confused3 It may be worth it if you're staying at the Disneyland Hotel anyway and do enjoy breakfast.

My family enjoys breakfast. I am not a breakfast person.

As far as quick service, our favorites are:

Plaza Inn (Main Street) - fried chicken!

Confession: I am not a fan of the dole whip :duck:

Confession--
Never had a dole whip..

THANK YOU! i still haven't even looked at the QS selections!

Muahahaha! :smooth:

HA HA HA HA

I wish weekdays flew by as quickly as weekends do :sad2:

I cannot agree more.

Same here. With Father's Day, softball games, BBQs, errands...just too much. We just couldn't carve out time. But we're set to go this Saturday. Looking forward to it! :woohoo:

YEP! you understand the craziness!

I cannot agree with you more. I do wish we didn't have to work as much as we all do and live the life WITH our families.

But really, I don't know what we'd do if day camp wasn't an option for us :scared: I remember when I was a kid (there were 3 of us - me and my two younger brothers) and being stuck at home every summer :faint: (no summer camp for us and both my parents worked). But we survived...somehow

My kids did one summer of summer camp they didn't have all the fun stuff you did for your kids. So they opted to stay home with a sitter.

Wish cell phones had been around back then and maybe my mom would have let us have a little more freedom (we grew up in a big city too). Good for you for biting the bullet. It's tough to see our littles growing up but knowing you can get in touch with them when needed surely puts the mind at ease.

It's hard to know when to let go. I want to keep them in my little happy nest and keep them safe forever. But how is that teaching them what the world is really like? To be observant of your surroundings? To be street smart?
it doesn't it hinders them. so having a cell phone is going to help ME a lot! LOL

Have fun at the movies!!!

WE DID!!!

GOOD MORNING!

Just a few things!! I'm hosting a large meeting which I need to get ready for.. So QUICK one this morning.

First i have to say I was really scared with the dining plan changes! a Character meal was 2 TS?!?! wowza
Thankfully today i read that was a typo! phew! QS no longer has a dessert. Which is fine by me since we hardly ever actually ate them! Yet now there is an extra snack even better. MORE MICKEY BARS!

Nothing on the DL front. just checking things out.

Yesterday!
As you know i took off yesterday to take the boys to the show. Felt bad, since Peanut is out having a small vacation while the boys are stuck at home. So we went to see FINDING DORY!
went to our favorite theater. which the boys still call it a THEAD-DE-EAR
I don't correct them
we were early so w play. they had the VIP lounge chairs around to the boys played on them:

They kept saying -- Luuuuuuuucky you get those chairs (in the VIP section which is 21+)

We ordered our bad food

along with candy for the boys and slushies. (free refills!)

went to find our seats:

To my surprise they updated all the theater seats to the reclining chairs! AWESOME! we were able to watch it in COMFORT! It was HEAVEN.
We saw it in 3-d. I am not a fan of 3-D as it gives me a headache or it's so blurry i can't see the movie.

Not this one!!! The movie was PERFECT in 3-D! just amazing.. not to mention the movie itself was the best!!!

Baby Dory is the cutest animation ever.
7ab9bc6d5047da85e73c37e32a125908

Do NOT get me started on the otters!

well of course we had to stop at the Disney Store.. My favorite themed one on Michigan Ave
ended up getting a BB8 and chewy small tsums tsums.

A few stitch MXYZ things: pen couple of key chains.
a med Shellie May Tsum Tsum for peanut.
and of course i got:

2724056310415

a HUGE DUMBO bag! It spoke to me and i had to buy it! and it zips! SCORE!

OK i am off to get ready for my meeting as long as the weather doesn't plan on taking us all out.

This morning i walked out of the house and it was like someone put a filter on the outside A red filter. EVERYTHING was red.. It is STRANGE.. I know there is a terrible storm coming. like tornado hail type of storm and this morning was the warning of what was to come
sa i was driving and looking around for Armageddon to come at any moment i noticed something even more strange for 5am in the morning:

a rainbow! No rain just a red morning (sailors be warned!)

I hope everyone is safe and happy! talk soon!!!

No? you don't think we would need it?
You won't need a package in order to properly enjoy WOC, no. You can still find plenty of areas to see the show just fine even without the special passes that accompany the WOC dinner package. However, if you plan to eat at one of the restaurants that offer the package anyway, it's something to still consider.

Which did you like best?
Blue Bayou, hands down!

It's hard to know when to let go. I want to keep them in my little happy nest and keep them safe forever. But how is that teaching them what the world is really like? To be observant of your surroundings? To be street smart?
it doesn't it hinders them.
::yes:: Completely agree. It's a constant tug-of-war between wanting to protect my son and wanting to prepare him for the world beyond our front door.

QS no longer has a dessert. Which is fine by me since we hardly ever actually ate them! Yet now there is an extra snack even better.
I would prefer an extra snack instead of the QS dessert too!

To my surprise they updated all the theater seats to the reclining chairs! AWESOME! we were able to watch it in COMFORT! It was HEAVEN.
Those are the best. Makes the movie-going experience nice and relaxing.

We saw it in 3-d. I am not a fan of 3-D as it gives me a headache or it's so blurry i can't see the movie.

Oh, now you've got me thinking I should see it in 3-D too :scratchin

well of course we had to stop at the Disney Store..
No brainer.

a rainbow! No rain just a red morning (sailors be warned!)
Wow!

Finding Dory was the CUTEST!!! I can't wait to see it again. And those otters--seriously!? I want one!

The red sky this morning was incredbile!! Beautiful, but now it's pouring, so there ya go.

Have a great day!!! :)

I am so glad that you got some extra special time with the boys... Wanna see Finding Dory so badly... Buuut... I am afraid that now is not the proper time for a Disney movie - they always make me cry and I just don't need another reason right now. ::yes:: I am so glad you enjoyed it though and in a few weeks - V and I will take our turn. :lovestruc

Yah - holy red sky batman!!! I sure hope you are safe today and no bad weather by you.

Cuuuuute Dumbo bag - He is just the sweetest. :lovestruc

I hope you have a great week and your meeting went well... I know I am not all the way caught up and I am just popping in as I can.

Love you - miss you! Hug those Midgets from me.

D~

Those theater seats look amazing. Won't Meg be jealous that you went to the movie without her?

This is good to know! Thanks!
Yes like you said if we do go to on the listed restaurants we may as well get the package right?

Blue Bayou, hands down!

Another vote! apparently i need to go here..

Completely agree. It's a constant tug-of-war between wanting to protect my son and wanting to prepare him for the world beyond our front door.

It is!!! how do you learn to ease up??? I did allow peanut to go to Indiana Beach for 4 days! that was hell.
IT IS SO HARD! STOP GROWING!

I would prefer an extra snack instead of the QS dessert too!

YES! so there is one change i do like.

Those are the best. Makes the movie-going experience nice and relaxing.

Really was!

Oh, now you've got me thinking I should see it in 3-D too :scratchin

Best 3d ever!

No brainer.

Right?!?! can't pass that up! I got an awesome bag!

It was freaky.

Finding Dory was the CUTEST!!! I can't wait to see it again. And those otters--seriously!? I want one!

I want to see it again too.. Did you stay until after the credits?

You need to see it. It was adorable! No-- wait until Allison is is safely on the ground. ::yes::
It wasn't easy with Peanut being away..It was adorable!!!

Yah - holy red sky batman!!! I sure hope you are safe today and no bad weather by you.

It was a wild sight! beautiful and weird. wish i had my real camera to capture all the colors! especially the rainbow!
We had some bad thunderstorms but nothing like the Armageddon we were told we were supposed to get!

Cuuuuute Dumbo bag - He is just the sweetest. :lovestruc

I surprised myself I got Dumbo! All the styles are so sweet. With the kids growing, getting cell phones, Dumbo just called to me. I am sure you understand! LOL. How did you allow yourself to let go and let the girls start to have some Independence???

I hope you have a great week and your meeting went well... I know I am not all the way caught up and I am just popping in as I can.

Meeting went VERY well! Thank you!!
Do what you can. im always here.

Love you - miss you! Hug those Midgets from me.

Miss you! I will give them loads of hugs!

Those theater seats look amazing. Won't Meg be jealous that you went to the movie without her?

They were amazing! LOVE the seats! popcorn::
Meg went to the show to see while in Indiana! The only problem was they didn't stay until after the credits!

Anything warmer than Chicago weather is perfect for us!

I don't know how you guys in the NE do it; anything below about 65 and I need a parka.

Good.. I like this idea too.. more personable.. right?

Totally! PLus without a script anything can happen...

MORE MICKEY BARS!

I love theaters like that! We have one around the corner from our house that has love seats. The three of us share one and it's better than being at home!

HA HA! When it's below 0 and the wind chill? That is what KILLS me.

Totally! PLus without a script anything can happen...

I agree! going to start this planning thing today.

Cute! I wouldn't correct it either; keeps them little.

I am trying but the midgets keep GROWING and maturing! HOW DO I STOP THIS?

Ah, I love movie theater food.

Me too.. although it doesn't like me much.

I love theaters like that! We have one around the corner from our house that has love seats. The three of us share one and it's better than being at home!

It's awesome! and yes same you can move the arm rests to make it into one huge seat The boys weren't having that..

How stinkin' cute is that!!

I do love my bag

Disneyland! Woo hoo!! That is exciting news. I hope to someday take our girls there considering it is a lot closer than disney world. But every time I price it out it is so close to what we spend in florida that I just haven't taken the plunge.
I can't wait to see Finding Dory!

Grumble

I was all excited to come here today and tell you all i booked.

NOPE they couldn't give me the correct prices.. So i sit and wait again. I will continue to call everyday until i am able to book this magical surprise for my midgets!! COME ON!!!

Between DL and WDW not giving me quotes-- They apparently don't want us to go!! :furious:

Well i have a mountain of paperwork to get through once that's cleaned off i plan on getting something together for the characters!!

SO EXCITED!

Hope you all have a magical Weekend! pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

I am over the moon excited! Again i cannot commit until i know what it is going to cost! So i sit in limbo until i can figure out what everything is going to come down too..

I plan on Calling Disney World again today! I NEED SOMETHING!!!

I agree! it's so expensive you can do a week or more in Florida v/s 4 days in Disneyland!! It's crazy!!!

Hey Mo! I've not fallen off the face of the Earth (well not just yet but I may be ready to jump at any minute) and am caught up again. Wow, wow, wow! I wish that our theater had seats like that. We thought we were fancy smancy when we saw cupholders on the seats of the new (it's about 10 years old now but it was fancy back then) theater. I've yet to go see Finding Dory but Hunter, Lacey and Jesse went and they gave it rave reviews.

So you haven't been able to book yet? You do know that I know a fantastic travel agent that can take care of that for you.....not that I'm trying to get my business up and running or anything. :teeth: Seriously, hope that you get it set in stone soon 'cause it always makes you feel better when you know that it's on the books.

well hello there Disney traveler! LOL!
You haven't fallen off the planet. you have been in Disney and i've been enjoying all your posts!
I LOVE that theater! it's so comfy and the price is normal ticket prices. (for Chicago)
Cup holders are a necessity! otherwise you just kick it all over!
Yes go and see it.. But dont' forget to stay ALL the way until AFTER all the credits are over!

I book slightly different then most :scratchin

The weekend.

Good morning ALL!!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend?!?! we did!

Friday was Dog training as usual and Football/cheer sign ups

training we better then anticipated! YAY for owners!

Saturday. wow hetic! I was supposed to work job #2 but they called me off. I was ok with it as Peanut had a softball game at 11- boys had a game at 2 their last game and i wanted to see it.

I have to say here for YEARS peanut wasn't the softball player i knew she could be, until now. This year she has an AMAZING coach who is TEACHING all the kids the correct way to play. She has never gotten a hit - always walked, beamed, or struck out. This year? She is hitting! well being hit and still being walked but NOT striking out! Never been more proud and she now LOVES THE GAME!!! Amazing how a great coach and and will change the player. YAY

I received the call i could have a good day so it was time to run over to the boys game but not before grabbing some much needed:

Yes. Centerfield is where all the fun people hang out! This is the total opposite of peanut's team. The boys wanted to quit for the last two months- of course i wasn't going to allow that- but i did feel their pain.
I would rather watch paint dry than to watch another gruesome display of baseball. the attitudes of the players and the coaching errors, well the coaching alone has me drinking.. just awful.

The pain over we stayed to watch our friends child in the younger skills competition.
we all came up with having a BBQ at our house.

Ran to the store grabbed a LOT of food and off we went.

we had about 6 adults and 7 kids. we had a BLAST! at one point during the night Zack came out and said it's 1am and im going to bed.
WHAT?:scared1: 1am?!?! Where did that go? Needless to say everyone left at that point! :rotfl2: Geesh! I haven't been up and about at 1am since i was in my 20's!!!
THANK GOODNESS i only had about 4 beers. :drinking1 the entire day!! WATER WATER WATER! :drinking::thumbsup2

the next morning was a call in for me and job #2 Tom had set my alarm.. it started going off at 5am.
I wanted to throat punch him.

I didn't of course i was not happy. Up and being told to have another nice day i turned into a blob on the couch.

once up with much needed coffee the kiddies and i ran to my favorite store of all time
COSTCO!
ended up buying a wagon. i have a lot of stuff especially for football season!
brought it home:
I bought it for stuff- coolers- chairs- equipment- snacks ya know stuff..
Peanut is NOT STUFF:

She asked how old Duffy was..
then came out with this:

Yes Duffy was in need of a drivers license.

License in hand it was time for him to start driving

Apparently he has a lead foot and received a ticket from Officer hops.

DARN IT DUFFY!!!

Imagination is amazing.

I was dead in bed early just to come to here

I hope you all had just as fun of a weekend as we did! :jumping1:

Yeah for Disneyland! Today I was supposed to be arriving there. Still a bit sad about that, but I have re-booked everything (except PTN dining package) for end of August. We had to see the 60th Anniversary stuff that is going away 09/05/2016. Plus, I wanted one last trip to Disney before Marissa leaves for Japan. She is excited to do Tokyo Disney.

We have never stayed on-site at Disneyland. Never felt the need. Our planning for Disneyland and WDW is totally different. We usually don't do any table service restaurants. We reserve that for WDW. I finally got this trips park hours, and now I will have to wait again. Make sure you get the Disneyland App.

We are staying at Camelot, because I can get a lot of room. My kids don't like to share, so I booked 1 King, 2 Queens and sofa bed room. I am going to try the PTN dining package for Aladdin's Oasis. I can't see spending the kind of money on Blue Bayou for the food that my kids won't enjoy. Although, we aren't thrilled with the Lasagna option. Oh well. We will be doing 5 day park hoppers. We did 4 last trip and it was enough to do most of everything we wanted. We actually like that our Disneyland trip doesn't need to be planned months in advance. I will probably start planning the 2017 trip to WDW for when Marissa returns pretty soon.

If I stayed on-site, the Disneyland Hotel would be the one I picked. Storytellers is supposed to fantastic and I am tempted to add it, but my kids don't like to be tied down to reservations.

Have a great day.
