Why does Disney wait so long to release 2008 packages?

if you wanted to go in January it's sneaking up on you. :scared:

I'm a little peeved about that, too. We are going be be at POR in the end of this month. However, I wanted to plan a Disney weekend in January for DH's 40th birthday. I'd like to have it planned and paid for before we go. We are just here at Disney's mercy waiting for the opportunity to book.:confused3  :scared:

I have already booked for the first week in January. I am concerned that if the prices are not what I was hoping for it will leave me little choice to change without cancelling. Yes, at this point it is only 5 months away. Hopefully the prices will be released soon.

That's a question only Disney can answer and any answer on here is just a guess at best as to why they do that. If you want to plan a trip, then schedule it and start making payments. Once the rates are out, then you will see how much of an adjustment it will be, but it wont' be some outrageous amount as the rates increase is generally $5 to $10 more per night than the current rate. Rate increases are historically about 4% to 6% each year. There are alot of threads regarding previous rate increases and this seems to be the average rate of increase each year.
