Why does Disney change park hours and mess up my ADR's?

I was checking on my ADR's today to see for the 10th or 12th time if I wanted to change anything for our upcoming trip and decided I better check the park hours one more time. Good thing I did, our pre-park opening breakfast for Akershus is now an after-opening breakfast. The major reason we booked this meal was to get in early and hopefully finish before the park opening. I mean with two DS's is wasn't like they really wanted to see the Princesses!

ugh...off to see what I can do about reservations now.....

Don't stress about it. I don't think it should mess up your day if you're still booked that early.
You're still not allowed to wander around before rope drop in Epcot, even if the park hours hadn't changed.

She wasn't planning on entering early. She wanted to eat and then be ready for rope drop. Now during rope drop, she will be eating and missing prime touring time. I would be really mad, too.

That is more common during holiday times - like when you're going. They seem to wait until the last minute and then add earlier openings, more EMHs (and earlier ones). Not much to be done about it other than roll with it.

There are many reasons for schedule adjustments, including anticipated crowd levels and special events. Disney never sets their park hours in stone, and they do wait until they determine there may be an actual need for a schedule adjustment.

If the meal is not a special one for the family, I'd cancel it and be in the park for the early rope drop, if that is your main consideration.

Any possibility of getting a later one? That way you can still be there for rope drop? Or if they are changing the hours and opening earlier maybe Akershus will add more ADR's? Might be able to snag something earlier?

It definitely is frustrating when you've planned so far ahead. I'm sure I'll be posting a similar message in about 5 months. :) I hope you are able to find something that works with the new hours!

Luckily this was the only breakfast ADR of our trip so it wasn't a huge deal to drop it and add lunch one day. I knew upfront that there was a chance this would happen but it's still frustrating. Basically there's no way to eat breakfast at any TS place at WDW that week and still make rope drop. I toyed around with the idea of breakfast after park opening, 10'ish or so, but couldn't find most of what I'd want anyway. What was available were the resort restaurants and those just aren't worth the trouble.

Guess we'll eat pop tarts, granola bars, and the like for breakfast all week.

That's unfortunate. I guess I'm doing ok by not scheduling any early ADR's this trip. Everything is lunch and dinner to avoid that problem.

Hate to see anyone miss out on the princesses oe experiences they planned though.
