Why does All-Star Movies resort tend to be higher priced than the other value resorts

We always stay in the All-Star Movie resorts but I notice that sometimes it is more expensive than the other value resorts. For Example it is 140 dollars a night in October but some of the other value resorts are around 119 a night. I would think that since the All-Star Movie resort is at the very end of that row of hotels that it would be at least the cheapest compared to the others.

I'm guessing that the difference is a preferred room location vs standard. Did you click the arrow to check out the room types available?

Not sure if this is true, but I've always thought the decorations at that hotel were cuter than the other ones. Maybe that makes people want to stay there more?

Stronger Disney brand theming. The Mighty Ducks just aren't Disney enough for some people.

I think that it is because it is more popular and people are willing to pay more.

Supply and Demand. Disney charges more for the ones that book the fastest.

Of the AllStars, Movies is the most Disney infused and very popular with young families.
Sports will usually come in next in price because it's popular with teams.
Music almost always is the cheapest because it's the least popular.

POP is usually more than Allstars because it's considered a step up by many.
AoA is more than all of them, always, with few discounts because they have no problem booking.

If you look at the moderates with like rooms -
POFQ will usually be most expensive with fewer discounts because it's small and they fill it easily.
POR and CSR are usually comparable.
CBR is usually posting the lowest prices and used for teaams because it seems to be the least favorite across the board.

As far as I know there shouldn't be a price difference except in the cases where one resort isn't included in a discount/promotion offer.

If you look at just the main page they will show you what is the preferred room rate. If you actually select the hotel it will show you the standard and preferred room rate (provided one class of rooms isn't sold out)

Example:
Here is the main page for dates in September-

The price for All-Star Movies above will be for a preferred room rate, the price for All-Start sports above will be for a preferred room rate and the price for All-Star Music will be for a preffered room rate. Notice they are average nightly rates shown. When we booked All-Star Sports (which by the way was the same price as Movies where we originally were going to stay but there were no more Standard rooms available) the two sets of Friday and Saturday nights were around $123 each night while the Sunday-Thursday rates were around $100 each night. It is confusing to say the least that they use the term "Standard Room Rate" and also have a "Standard Room" category.

Here's what each resort looks like once you click on each one:

Notice how the pricing for Preferred Rooms is the same pricing as what is shown to you on the main page. Make sure when comparing where you want to stay if looking at costs to click on the specific resort to get the actual rate. If you click on the link for "rate details" you will see the nightly rate versus the average nightly rate.

This is a place I think WDW really fails on the marketing side. Why would you list the higher price on the main page:confused3 The vast majority will use these numbers to first decide whether to even click on the resort.

We are doing a major family trip at the end of the month. I have 2 brothers staying at Sports and 1 staying at Movies. The price for Movies was always higher when we were checking. Same room, same discount applied. Both Standard. That is the reason 2 are staying at sports (they are more budget conscience) and 1 at Movies (his daughter preferred the theming)

I chose the resort because of the smoking locations. I need a resort that has them away from the main building and where I can walk from my room to the main building without coming near a DSA.

I will not go back to Pop, they have even made it worse since I last stayed there. I couldn't find a single spot I could stay and avoid the smoking areas. So I booked at All-Star Movies. With all the resorts Disney has and when they did AoA I thought great it's geared for families, they might even make it smoke free- nope!
