Why does AK Jambo House always seem available

Looking at the rooms in Jambo House makes me want to stay there. But of course it's not an easy trip to MK (we are anti-bus snobs). Is transportation the only reason it's so easy to find space there (vs WL for example) or is AK just not that exciting and maybe so something to do with an extra day? Really like the looks of JH and the room types/theme seem great.

Just did a quick google and it appears there are about 200 more rooms at AKL vs WL. Not sure if that includes DVC or not. I would guess that's one reason for more availability.

I can tell you that JH is beautiful and very exciting, if you're in to that kind of thing. I think the atmosphere out weighed the "long" bus time (which really it wasn't).

AKL-Jambo is a bigger resort, and it is more "remote." It actually isn't particularly any further than an All-Star, but, obviously, is a different price category.

I agree that the "the bus is so long!" seems to be the reaction of people from places without public transit. The ride average is no worse than CBR or POR.

Totally agree.
We're not fans of dealing with a car at WDW. We've taken the bus many times from AKL.

I grew up in a very transit city, and went to college in an even more transit city. When getting to your 9AM class takes 45 minutes by subway and sometimes your platform is closed for bomb threats, the idea that it's only 20 minutes from giraffes to Cindy's castle is very easy to deal with!

I would hate to be standing on one of those 20 minute rides though. But I do hope to stay there in February.

According to Google Maps it's a 14 minute drive from AKL to Contemporary, prob more like 12-14 minutes in real life.

Edited: cause I did the original the opposite way. duh!

We typically rent a car. In the past the bus service seemed to take forever non-peak hours. We visit at least one a year there and tend to take the bus to MK. Things have improved dramatically, yea! IMO the bus to MK from BWV can overall take longer. Non-peak, from WL to Epcot, we've stopped @ FtW, making for longer trip than expected.

We own @ AKV, love Jambo's theming! As for excitement, well, I don't necessarily look for that in my resort, getting enough of that in the parks. However, I get awfully excited when a Giraffe strolls past while I enjoy a drink on my balcony:cloud9:

it's one of the resort's we tend to spend the most time enjoying, pool amongst our favorites onsite.

Resort is actually quite popular with non-guests coming in for dinner @ Boma, who tend to spend time milling about & enjoying the various animal overlooks.

It's a larger resort than WL, but the place is amazing!!! I spent 10 nights there this past June and didn't want to leave. I really enjoyed the Mara for quick service and Jiko was just out of this world. There are so many activities to participate in, a wood carver in the evenings and animals everywhere. I didn't find the bus ride to be this horrible experience that you read about on here all the time. CSR and the All-Star resorts are in the same area as AKL, but you never read about how remote and too far from everything they are :confused3

stayed there twice this past year. LOVED it both times. Waking up with animals out ur sliders, sipping coffee is Nice Indeed.
The buses were actually fine. They seemed no longer to me but I do get caught up "in the experience" and people watching lol.
Loved the bus boards to show you when they will arrive. The resort is Beautiful.
I'm still not the biggest fan of food there but the pool, resort and all else are so worth it.

AKL is a gorgeous resort, and in my opinion, one of the most relaxing on Disney property. I did not mind the bus ride, and would stay again in a heartbeat, but my family likes the monorail line.
