why does a Disney/DVC stay feel so good?

This is the last night of a brief 4 night stay at Saratoga Springs and as I am about to call it a night this question came into my mind. Why does staying at Disney and specifically at a DVC resort feel so good? It is such a treat and in my opinion and great for my mental and even physical health. But why?

I would like to invite you to respond.

For me, being able to "spread out" in a bigger accommodation with added kitchen make it feel more like home. So for a few days I feel like I'm "living at Disney"

Before we had DVC, we owned a Travel Trailer and stayed at the campground. That felt similar only you were taking your home with you to Disney. We stayed one year over Christmas and had a great time. We had a small Christmas tree on our picnic table and a huge blow-up Santa.

There's an intangible feeling I get when I'm at Disney that makes me a bit addicted and I have not desire to cure that.:goodvibes

The joy of millions of people fills the air throughout Disney World. There's so much of it, that it's nearly palpable. It permeates the carpets, furniture, and walls of the nearby Disney resorts, and you can't help but soak it in as soon as you step into the room.

Wait, is it the joy of a millions of people I'm thinking about, or sweat?

Well, in either case, the DVC rooms are just dripping with the stuff.

I KNOW! I visited the cite of the Oklahoma City bombing, years ago.....I'd swear you can feel something there too (not joy).

Hehehehehe, Thanks! Needed a good laugh this morning, and I also think your right. There is something there that just makes you smile even if you want to or not. Maybe the realisation that something you have worked really hard for has come true.

59 years of excellent Disney marketing has programmed us to love the place and all things Disney. :goodvibes

And then there are the WDW CMs who go above and beyond to make the stay magical -- maybe the program staff handing out marshmallows at BVW at the firepit, or Kidani pool staff in the afternoon (I swear they're the best) or Dave at Jambo Bell Services helping my DH get a wheelchair when he needed one, or Lucia at SSR picking DD and I a great studio away from the action when we needed quiet. I also waited in line 3 1/2 hours at Norway in the rain (I know who else but a crazy Nana would do that for her 3 yo DGD) and was blessed with a lovely conversation with Elsa and Anna.

And the DVC rooms are good too. I love my Brita pitcher in my Owner's Locker!

I'm not sure what it is either but I feel it every time I'm there and when I leave...I can't wait to get back to feel it again. It's my happy place and I love everything about it. Every now and then while at home I'll get a smell that makes me think "oh my gosh it smells like Disney" and it makes me happy. I know...weird!

True! I honestly feel a thrill within me while there... swore, years ago, "I'll never go to Disney" now own at 5 resorts! Yes, I did not grow up Disney, and they managed to market to me as a professional and adult.

You don't feel the pressure of having to run around to get everything in to get your money's worth. You know you will be back.

Another thing about DVC - I was reading posts on the discount board by people fretting that they couldn't get their AP room discount. So nice to not have to worry about that, plus no room to pay for at checkout. 15 years later, still love, love, love DVC. :goodvibes

Going back to a place that you know so well and has produced great memories is a comforting feeling that continues to build each visit. Then as you leave a CM says see you next time and you think that's right I'll be back in whenever. Then you come back and see that CM. Like people say, it feels like home.:goodvibes

Walking into an OKW studio with 2 young children and a baby that needed a pack n play and my wife crying tears of joy because of the size of the room.

AKV Savannah view 2 years later and the excitement of the kids seeing the animals outside.

Upcoming trip with sister and family in a 2 bedroom SSR.

All made possible because of DVC.

No bill at checkout!

I really believe that "no bill" helps chill me out A LOT. We recently took a trip on cash, and had to renew our AP at the same time. Ouch! That was expensive. We caught ourselves watching our spending a lot. We've gone on DVC trips and spent a whole lot less and got a whole lot more.

I sometimes wonder if these 2 quotes are not related. Happy and sad vibes seem to somehow take place on a cosmic level. I'm usually pretty analytical, but can sense these un-explainable phenomena.

I have people ask me all the time why we go so often. And we get the awkward "How do you afford to go so much?" I always say "It's why I work!". LOL, anyways I always try to explain that Disney is not just "something we do" it is more than simply a destination it is almost a "state of being". It's part of who I am. Not a day goes by that I don't think about Disney in some manner. Maybe that's cheesy but it sums me up. The feeling I have at Disney is one of inner peace and happiness.

This is why the Disboards DVC group is satisfying as well. People here "get it," in a way lots of folks in our daily work and social spheres just don't.

It's akin to when you go to college and realize that there are a lot of folks out there in the world who share the same peculiar interests and sense of humor as you, when at your high school you might've felt differently.

DVC is a timeshare. But it's members collectively are indeed a club...

What I love about a Disney vacation is that it takes you away and it makes everything easy. It provides a clean room, plenty of relaxing ares with enough entertainment to keep it interesting. You don't have to drive off site for anything - unless you object to paying $15 for a six-pack of beer :rotfl2: We generally know where to find anything so we don't waste half our vacation trying to make a decision because of unfamiliarity.

Well its kinda like you said , when you start out at the all stars and work your way up to moderates that's a big upgrade in itself . But once you go deluxe there's no turning back DVC is for me .

Ditto! Not everyone gets it! I feel exactly the same...peaceful and happy! It's a place that I can go and totally decompress and escape reality!

To me it starts when they say "welcome home". For those precious vacation days you are transported to a different place with sites, sounds, smells to another place like the grandeur of the Northwest at VWL or a safari at AKL.
