Why do you stop at Main St. bakery first thing in the morning?

When I get my family up for rope drop, there is nothing more that I can think about when we enter the MK gates than to get to that first ride without lines. I am really curious about the people that take the time to stop at this bakery, when you took the time to make sure you got into the park first thing to avoid lines? If the bakery is first thing on your mind and you want something really bad and the lines aren't important, thats all okay, but I'm just so curious as to why you would take precious time to stop and get something here? Why get up early, just to stop and waste that magical first hour?

Have you had one of there apple turnovers? Just thinking about one makes me hungry. Its not a hour, its like maybe 10 minutes. Most of the pastries in MSB are awesome. Much better than what you can get at most other property locations in my opinion. And you got to eat breakfast somewhere.. Why not MSB. Now if your talking about when the line is out the door and its not as soon as the rope drops, I wouldn't wait for that and then I would say your possibly wasting time.

Two words:

Cinnamon Rolls

We get there early due to the fact that the line-up gets VERY long VERY fast and frankly, there is no FastPass available for the bakery!!! (Now there's something for Disney to think about )

We're into just being in the parks with a few others, our being there has nothing to do with attractions and ride lines. We like to casually stroll up Main Street, taking in the sights, yes, even after 41 trips the MK holds us spell bound, if the bakery has a short line, we enjoy a cinnamon roll and continue our trek into the world, usually Adventureland first.

It's not about the ride lines getting in early, we just want to be in the park, we're not wasting time we're enjoying the ambiance and nostalgia, atmosphere and surrounding of the MK. Racing to attractions or fast pass machines has never been one of our quests. What we miss, we catch later but we are not commando's, have no plan and have done WDW the same way in all our trips. The first look up Main Street is enough and seeing the castle is just icing on the cake, we could walk the kingdom all day and not ride a thing and be entirely happy.

It's good when bigger families are traveling together, The grandparents can get pastry while the parents and the kiddies ride Dumbo or Space Mountain a hundred times.

I agree. Dh & I will be taking a trip for just the two of us for our anniversary so no need to beat 'em to Dumbo. lol It's going to a really relaxed laid back trip and just this week we talked about hitting the Bakery first and just soaking up the atmosphere.

Sorry to hijack the thread, well, in a way...

But is the Main Street Bakery open prior to rope drop? Or, if you had an ADR at CP or CRT, or even the KTTK tour, could you walk up Main Street to the Bakery even before MK technically "opens" and buy something to eat? Or do they not open the MSB doors until the rope drops?

Because it's a yummy way to start the day! Everything I have ever eaten there is amazing!

However, in all honesty I usually don't go until a little later in the morning when the lines for rides get bigger and the lines at the bakery get a bit smaller

Got to agree with Pepe of Ohio. Its just wonderful to be in the park and not be caught up in the rush to do everything. You get to see the look on the children's faces, take in the little things that people just rush by, and just enjoy being in a magical place.

Oh yes, the cinnamon rolls are OK too.

What we do at rope drop is go directly to Fantasy Land, then to Adventure Land and make our way back to Main St. By 10am the lines have died down at the bakery. There's still a line and a wait, but it moves fast.

Either my boys were starving or tired because they waited so patiently for their French Toast Loaves, I was so proud of them . I really got nervous when I saw the line. Thankfully, the majority of people take their meals to go so there was plenty of seating for us.

Funny thing that morning, the only line we waited on was at the Bakery!

I was also nervous they'd run out of French Toast Loaf, I know once it's gone it's gone for the day. I didn't know exactly what time they run out by.

Oh, at MickiNicki's recommendation, I'm trying out the ham and egg sandwich next!

Well, not everyone who goes to WDW appreciates the rope drop and competing with the stampede to get to the rides. My time is "precious" while on vacation, but maybe for different reasons than yours. So much so, that I want to take in the sights, sounds, smells and tastes at a sometimes slower pace. Once in awhile, that includes the french toast loaf at the Main Street Bakery.

Thanks everyone, for a whole 'nother view of experiencing MK. I probably will still go commando, but thats ok, I know how the lines get at about 10:00sh to the rides, so its worth it to us to rush to the rides first. But now I get it, I understand why you hit the bakery first, thats part of the magic for you! And yes, I have tried those cinnamon buns, yum, didn't care for the french toast tho but I think I'll give it another shot and this time with syrup.
I'll have to try the apple turnovers, yes? Sounds yummy!

The French Toast Loaf is great for kids. My boys love waffles, pancakes, french toast, etc... for breakfast. They're not really big on muffins and danishes. So for them, it's perfect and I'm really grateful they offer something like that otherwise we wouldn't stop in for breakfast. I love the cinnamon buns and had way too many Frozen Lattes last trip!! Those were delish!! They put Starbucks Frappaccinos to shame!!

I also only do the Fantasyland commando route for the kids. If it were up to me, I'd sit on Main St with my pastries and people watch.

The heck with Cindy's suite, I swear I'd sleep on a park bench in MK if they'd offer it!!!

This is my family's way of doing MK too We are interested in 4-5 attractions in the park (Wed Way Ppl Mover, Buzz, Pirates, HM), but it's the park itself that holds the attraction for us

Unfortunately for me, my family loves bakery. I hate it!! So they always make me stop at that stupid place and I sit there hungry while they dive in to whatever crud they bought. LOL A small price to pay for being in such a magical place

We've learned the joy of stopping there on our way *out* of the MK.

Bring a few goodies back to the room to enjoy first thing the next morning.
(They go stale quickly, so it helps to pack some large Ziplock bags in your suitcase to put them in...)

I was thinking about doing this for our next trip. Thought it would save on trying to buy something in the mornings. We can just eat in our room. Thanks for the tip on the ziploc baggies - I will be adding those to my list.
