Why do you love HS?

Yes we're going second half of the day. I was realizing today I didn't have a parade scheduled & now I know why. Thanks for the heads up on no parade. And I almost got a FP+ the other day for TSMM but opted for The Little Mermaid Show instead. Is this a mistake? The Toy Story ride didn't look all that amazing online. I was trying to stick with more of the shows, but the way everyone raves about TSMM perhaps we should try it too.

Thanks all for sharing fun things about the park!

Little mermaid show rarely has much of a line unless its a majorly crowded day. If your family is old enough for 3D glasses, they should really get a kick out of TSMM. Little mermaid show is only just ok, except maybe for youngest kids?

We think The Little Mermaid show is really really well done and entertaining. However I would agree with others who suggested FP+ for TSMM and then just using the standby line at Little Mermaid. The waiting area for Little Mermaid is shaded and from what I remember they let a fair amount of people in at one time. TSMM is so much fun - last year we went on a day the park was closing early for the ToT Run Disney party and we rode three times in a row in less than one hour at the very end of the day because other people were already leaving - we had a blast!

This last trip we REALLY enjoyed the concert given by Mike and Sully! It was amazing. The band was amazing as were Mike and Sully. It was very fun to have all of these people standing and dancing to familiar tunes.:)

BUT I think we can all agree that the bolded experience is very, very uncommon! Standby lines for TSMM will run 60-90 minutes, and having waited in a 90+ plus line (yes I need my head examined) I can guarantee it's not worth THAT kind of standing. You definitely shouldn't use "3 times in an hour at closing" as a guideline for TSMM!!

Little Mermaid is a terrific show- we love it and see it every time we are at Disney. However, we rarely FP it and there's no way I'd waste a FP+ on it. It's a short show and cycles rapidly. Some of your waiting is outside, some inside "under the sea" (or so they'd hope), but it breaks up the wait. I think the longest we've EVER waited for LM is maybe 15 minutes.

TSMM isn't my favorite ride by a long shot BUT everyone else I know LOVES it! Use your FP+ for TSMM and standby for LM.

We really enjoy The Great Movie Ride! Unless your kids are VERY timid (there's a cowboy shootout OR a gangster shootout scene) they will probably like it, with the exception of the Alien scene. That one is pretty scary but even the most timid among us is OK with it- she just hunkers down with her eyes shut, fingers in her ears, through Alien!

We went from RD to Fantasmic. We went so early because my youngest did Jedi Training. What I LOVED about DHS:
* a more relaxed pace (once we conquered Jedi Training & Toy Story)
* Sci-Fi (awesome burgers, quiet, cool)
* So many tables to sit outside & grab a snack to relax
* my boys went on TOT & Rockin Roller a few times their favorite rides in WDW
* while they were on TOT I sat on a bench enjoying a wonderful coffee drink
* Fantasmic is a wonderful show!
* Animation Academy

how can anyone hate this part its perfect

its easy to walk around you never seem lost like you do at epct or aniaml kingdom, big rides like RORC and TOT unlike magic kingdom, great shows like beauty and beast, great fireworks and great shops i honeslty do think it goes unnoitced by a lot of people mainly due to the hat at the front lol

For starters, it has one of my favorite attractions in the World, Star Tours. Aside from the other must-do attractions, I just enjoy the "Old Hollywood" atmosphere. Between the architecture, the street performers, and the ambient music it's a real treat for anyone who is a fan of the Golden Age of Hollywood. It's also home to some of the more fun table service restaurants in the parks. Sure, it's got a few duds, but the good far outweighs the bad.

Rockin Roller Coaster, Star Tours, Indiana Jones, Turkey Leg by Tower of Terror.

And sneaking over near the backlot to catch all the characters before they go to the Fantasmic show. It's like a speed round of character meet and greet...pictures with like 15 characters in 10 minutes.

And this year for our first time, OSBOURNE LIGHTS.

DHS is my favorite! I guess I'm the weirdo that puts DHS and AK at the top of my list....granted there are very small steps between #1 and #4! I absolutely LOVE the atmosphere of DHS, particularly at night. The Streetmosphere performers are just a blast! I think all the "DHS is a half-day park" people miss out on them. We always take some time to slow down, enjoy the atmosphere, and keep our eyes open for the performers. I don't think there's an attraction there that we don't enjoy, though we haven't done the B&TB show or the new Jack Sparrow attraction. The Animation building is so often overlooked, except for the characters, and the animation class is fantastic! My oldest got the instructor's drawing last time and he absolutely treasures it! TSMM gets the most attention, and while I think it deserves it, there's so much else to do and see. And eat! We never miss a chance to eat at Sci-Fi!

I hope your trip!

Our family loves DHS!!!

We love:

-50's Prime Time - one of my favorite Disney meals is the fried chicken! :thumbsup2
-Rock n' Roller Coaster - DH and DD9's favorite ride ever!
-Tower of Terror - My favorite ride in all of Disney and DD6's favorite too! :goodvibes
-Star Tours - We are just huge Star Wars nerds, so love this, and very much look forward to Star Wars Land. :cool1:

I've also been following the other thread as I could relate to the OP. But, as I mentioned there, DHS has grown on me significantly over the past couple of years and now it's to the point where I'm actually excited about being there!

What started the initial transformation was seeing how excited DD got. Let's face it, it's a Disney Junior fan's dream come true. I let the cat out of the bag that Sofia was now doing a meet and greet and let's just say I've had one very bouncy, very excited preschooler ever since .. and we still have 10 days until our trip!

I more or less adore the overall ambiance of the park. TSMM is a hoot and we can get rather competitive on it. RnRC is the only attraction I'll ever go upside down on. I've always been a fan of the super cheesy GMR. Starring Rolls plays in a role in my 5lb vacation weight gain. DD is one very happy little girl hamming it up with the Disney Junior gang of characters.

I'm going to preface this by saying that I am not in the "I <3 DHS" crew. In fact, it's my least favorite park. I take issues with the park layout, the loss of original theme, and the hat.

However, with that said...
1) I love ToT and RnRC
2) I love the Great Movie Ride
3) I love the Indiana Jones show (even though some better stuff has since been cut)
4) I love the feel of the park at night (while I haven't done a nighttime AK, DHS is actually my favorite nighttime atmosphere, excluding MNSSHP)
5) Even though I'm not overly big on shows in general, I enjoy both the Beauty and the Beast shows as well as the Little Mermaid one.
6) I enjoyed Fantasmic! (although, the necessity of lining up well ahead of time (even with the dining package) and then sitting on those uncomfortable benches for 45+ minutes before the show is a bit less enjoyable..)

i really do think this park is so much better then Epcot which just seems so more dated everytime we go

Based upon these boards, I was only planning 1/2 day at DHS last June. Instead, we really enjoyed this park and added more time at it. Since it was our first trip, we did a lot of rushing around to headliners, which were all great. Next year, I want to just take my time and soak in the atmosphere.

Here's our take on it: TSMM (maybe not worth all the hype to us, but still a lot of fun), RNRC (great ride), The Great Movie Ride (my DS 11 loved it), the Animation Academy (a nice change of pace), Lights, Motor, Action (warning - in June, it can get really hot in the stadium...I thought I was going to get sick and kept using our spray fan), the back lot tour was interesting (but not something I would do over and over again), TOT (glad when it was over!), Illuminations (not our thing), SciFi diner (fun).

Still more to explore for our next trip...

3 reasons - TSM, The Brown Derby, and the street entertainment. We spend a great deal of our week here!

I don't know why DHS gets such a bad rap so often!!! I love just walking around the park.

1. Star Tours
2. Toy Story
3. 50's Prime Time

And of course if you can get there...

STAR WARS WEEKENDS!!!!

I love love love DHS!! I've only been on one trip to WDW and I get sad every time I read about new changes to DHS because I think it was fantastic as it was.

We went to SWW, my sons did Jedi training and we got on to Star Tours jut as it was reopening.
We loved all the shows, we thought TSM was a blast and meeting Pixar and Star Wars characters was amazing. And I do love the Muppets!

Fantasmic! was stunning! I can't wait to see that again. I also want to do things we missed as I've heard such good thing about them since: One man's Dream, the animation class and even ToT, which I was too scared to try last time!

I think what I loved most was the look of the place - the feel and the detail, wow it had us smiling and laughing all day. Lots of posing in front of fantastic backdrops for photos, making us feel like we're in the movies!
And I swear the sky is an extra special shade of blue there. :)

I love HS
I love The great movie ride, the anmiation academy drawing class, star tours, Beauty and The Beast, The American idol experience, the backlot tour, One Man's Dream, TOT the best ride at Disney, the atmosphere, HS at night

I like TSM, Muppets 3D and I have never ridden RNRC but enjoy the Indiana Jones Show

Pizza Planet was ok, cool to eat their once, I liked ABC comminsary but some don't like it. I really enjoyed Fantasmic as well.

Hollywood Studios is my second favorite park, after Magic Kingdom! I love the Hollywood theme because I've always wanted to visit the real Hollywood, and it has my favorite ride in all the parks, Tower of Terror! I also love the shows, especially Fantasmic. A lot of people complain about the layout of the park but I find it no trouble at all, and it seems more compact than the other parks, so I'm not so tired walking around. 50's Prime Time Cafe is also one of the coolest restaurants, we love it!

Toy Story Midway Mania
That "Old Hollywood" feel
Tower of Terror
Starring Rolls Cupcakes
Muppetvision 3D
The Great Movie Ride
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
