Why do you love Disney??

I was just wondering... what is it, or why do you love Disney so much?? For myself, I began going when I was three years old and can still remember the plane ride and everything!! I at one time thought that we were related to Walt Disney himself! After all, it was a family ritual to watch the WDW Sunday night special and to go down yearly with family and friends. At one time there were 22 of us!! But what about the rest of you?? Why do you love it so much?

I wish I knew..we got back Dec 21 and estimate that was almost our 400th visit. Apart from the fact we would be very rich had we not gone so much--I cannot say what it is?I Is it the smells--the first look at Main St USA --Casey's Hot Dogs..I guess it's just everything! I get home--and I want to go again

It is staying on property and feeling the magic. I am so content when I pass the Welcome arch's at the entrances that I would not even care if I went to the parks. All seems well with mankind when I am on Disney property

I have no idea. I just feel really good when I'm there. Maybe it's how perfect everything is.

We are not supposed to be going in 2009 at all but I got a PIN and then there is the 4/3 deal. Plus, the possibility of free dining again in the fall. Oh my...what to do?

I am not sure! I always wanted to go to Disney when I was a child, and once had an offer to go with a friend, but couldn`t. That dissapointed me very much. I guess I just remember watching the Sunday night movies and seeing the castle.

When I finally did get there with DS, and we saw the castle and the Dreams Come True Parade, I cried. It really was a `Dream Come True. Like a PP said, it feels like all is right with the world. Mostly everyone is so happy, and nice. My favourite is seeing the absolute joy in the faces of the little ones when they see the characters. And the second favourite, seeing all the little girls dressed up as princesses.

Watching the wonderful world of Disney was a Sunday afternoon ritual at my house when i was growing up . I remember one show were Walt described his new park in Florida and i knew right then and there that i wanted to go .I could not convince my parents to take us so it was almost 20 years later before i got to go . I have gone as often as i could afford since .But my last trip was the most special as i stayed on site and had my DW & DDthen 4 with me it was truly magical .

I've been asked it before by many non-Disney people that don't get it. I guess it's because when I'm there I'm not thinking about anything else. I'm free to enjoy myself. I'm not worried about bills, health or anything else. It's a place I can be a kid with my kids. We went the first time Dec 2005 and have been hooked ever since. I admit I get misty eyed on the first walk down Main Street every trip and the last aswell. We've only been to Disneyland so far. We are waiting for my younger son to get older/taller before we hit WDW.

This is my first post ever on this board, althought I have spent a great deal of time reading. I love Disney for about a million reasons, but the main reason is it the only place on this earth that I feel safe in taking my son. He has many, many, many food allergies. The Disney chefs are absolutely amazing about ensuring that all food issues are handled appropriately. Until he has grown out of most of his allergies it will be the only place on this earth that I will take him (where I am not his chef) and feel safe.

Disney is pure magical fantasy that lives up to the dream

Hearing "When you wish upon a star", spotting the "Where Dreams Come True" sign, even talking about an upcoming trip makes my heart beat faster.

It's like the beautiful Cinderella birthday card I received from DH: "Sometimes, right in the middle of the ordinary, life brings us a fairytale come true". Can't explain why I love it so - but I do.

Disney sometimes invokes such emotion in me sometimes that I get misty eyed too! I'm so glad that I'm not the only one! Last year was the first time when we could really afford to go (b/c student loans were finally- OK mostly paid off ) It brought back so many childhood memories- for a long time I didn't think that I would ever get back there. Luckily things improved and so we're going again this year My DH just thinks I'm crazy, and understands to a certain extent, my family definetly understands, his family have never been so they haven't experienced the magic! I too love seeing the kids faces light up- and it's just really really nice to see families doing things together. It's really a place where you loose yourself in the magic!

I hate to be a downer, but I actually don't love Disney. I enjoy some of Disney's movies, but I'm not a big Disney movie/character fanatic. I'm also not a fan of how certain things are done and are being done to Disney World.

That said... I do love Disney World, and that started on our trip 2 years ago (oh my gosh, has it been 2 years already?!?). I was looking forward to it, but I wasn't expecting to fall in love with it. It just comes down to how I feel while at Disney World... it's a feeling that I've never had for a "place" before.

We go for all the same reasons as most of you all. What convinced us that DW was the perfect vacation for our family was having gone on vacation to a caribbean island 1n 1999 and seeing how poor and dangerous the country was. It sure made me think about where the money I paid for this trip went. It wasn't in the infastructure, economy, hospitals, schools, roads, I can go on and on and on. Disney was safe, I saw where my contribution to their economy went. I saw it everywhere we went in Florida. I can only say we look foreward to going every year at this time. It helps me get through Jan and Feb because in March...

It's the magic! That I can be a kid and no one looks twice

I read this on the DIS a couple of years ago, but can't remember who posted it. I've seen it used for various things, but I think it works best with Disney

How true. I've given up on trying to explain it to my friends.

But the truly amazing thing is that we've yet to see a single person cite the actual attractions. WDW is simply an experience. From the moment our plane touches the ground in Orlando to the moment we arrive home, life simply seems brighter. Colours are more vibrant, the air is cleaner, every sight, aroma, and sound evokes countless memories. It's something that you can't really imagine until you experience it, but once it has happened you can never forget it.

When you cross under that arch for the first time, you don't just enter WDW. WDW enters you. And once that magical parasite has squirmed in through your pores, it 'aint ever comin' out.

It is all the nights of dreaming and then a few days when I can strip myself of all my worries and just let myself feel joy and exhileration.

The sounds, the smells, the colours and the imagination. Disney is a feeling and it is an attention to detail. 90 percent of us on here just get it. It is an embodiment of what we share. It is one of the only places we can go and allow ourselves to feel like a child without ridicule. It is the smiling cast members with hometown name tags and a quick inside story. The simple joy of a hug from a costumed charactor.
Disney is fantasy and adventure and in todays world there just is a lack of make believe.
Maybe some of us have just been touched by pixie dust!

For me it's because I get to feel like a kid again - plus now that I have my own kids, seeing the sheer joy on their faces is the best part.
