I have visited WDW since I was 7 years old. I have now been there 14 times and like many of you I'm sure, LOVE it more and more each time. But each time our family makes plans to visit Disney people ALWAYS ask us WHY?? Why are you going back, Arent you tired of it, You should go somewhere else!!! They want to know whats so special about WDW. I have a hard time putting it into words. All I can think of is how "magical" it really is. I love seeing commericals for WDW, looking back at videos and pics from our trips, planning and of course GOING!! So I'm wondering what is it that makes you all love WDW so much??

Like you, it is hard to describe why we like going. DH's first trip was our honeymoon in 1996 and I had been a few times as a kid, but this was his first time and we had such a wonderful time that it reminded us each time we went of our honeymoon. Then in 2006 we went with our little ones and to see my DD's expression was priceless. She is 5 now and DS3 and they will have a great time again.

I just love all of Disney  , love just walking in the parks and there is never a dull moment while you are there. Just pure excitement!!!

Because everything is so First Class and magical.

Just the way they move thousands of people in and out everyday with such ease. The way that everything is so organized. Buses/monorails/boats pick you up every 20 minutes. The atmosphere of the hotels and the parks.

There is nothing else like it. Even there hotel in Vero Beach feels this way. I guess its just the Disney Magic that makes it so special.

Because, it's "The Happiest Place On Earth". What more can you say. pixiedust:

Because I get to leave my worries behind and feel like a kid again.

And.. well, it just makes me happy. :lovestruc

It is the one place I can act like a child again with no one looking at me like I must have lost my mind!:rotfl2:

I grew up with the original Mickey Mouse Club and had to have the "ears" and everything and when Disneyland opened and Disney would showcase his special place I always dreamed of going there. But California was so far away for a WV girl so when WDW opened and I was 23 yo I got to see the "castle" for the first time. It was magical and still is.

I have planned a lot of vacations, include some overseas but none are easy to enjoy as one to WDW. You get to live the excitment of the "world" during the planning but once you leave your house it's all done and you get to just relax and enjoy the plans you've put together.

It just makes me happy! :goodvibes

I love Disney for so many reasons. For starters, I've had Disney checks for years because they say "dreams really do come true". That could sum it up. To be more specific, I'm all about nostalgia. I remember watching re-runs of steamboat willy with my mom and the early mickey mouse cartoons. I had the entire collection of Disney classic books growing up. I went to WDW for the first time when I was 6 and still haven't forgotten the magic. I remember seeing the Little Mermaid in the theaters and thought it was the best movie ever! But lately I've been coming to realize Walt's vision and dreams. As an artist, I like to look up to him as a role model. I'm not sure that there are many things more important that having something to wrap around yourself to forget all of the hardships in life, and be a kid again.

I've said this before on other threads, so please feel free to skip over this. But, I am an only child born to 2 teenagers, so I was given to my grandparents to raise. While I had a wonderful childhood with them (they are great people), I was very lonely and never felt like I was a part of a real family. I always dreamed of having a family so I could feel like I belonged somewhere. My husband had a horrible childhood in so many ways. It was really bad and he basically had no childhood. We met when we were young and knew we wanted to make our own family together. We now have 3 daughters and are fially a part of a good, solid family. So, when we go to Disney, we get to live out the ways we wished our chidhood had gone. For me it's the matching t-shirts and family photos, for my husband it is being carefree (if only for that week). we get to enjoy ourselves and watch the family we created together enjoy their childhoods the way we dreamed they would. So while I love anytime with my family, being in such an amazing place where we worry about nothing and think about nothing but having fun makes me very happy. Plus, everytime we go down I remember the great times we have had there, the wonderful memories we have created and are creating and even dream about those we will create someday (hopefully not too soon) when we are grandparents traveling down with our children and their families. I love it there, but I think you either get it or you don't (I'm sure all of you get it!!!)

Because of all the vacations I have ever been on, WDW is THE only place I can truly say that I have been so close to my wife and children on a vacation.
We skipped WDW this year choosing to go to Bulgaria for a "package holiday"... sit by the pool, drink beer, sizzle in the sun, eat weird food... etc etc... 3 days into our vacation, we were sooooo bored having previously vacationed in WDW in 2006 and 2007. So much so, my wife went into the hotel reception to book a mini break in Disney Paris to give us something to look forward to!!!!

Disney Paris... less than 5 weeks away.....

WDW, booked for June 2009, woohoo!!!

In disney we all get to have fun plain n simple!!

Im not a bible thumper but..... God bless Walt Disney!

For as long as we can afford to cross the atlantic to get to WDW, I'm sure we'll keep going.....

I love Disney, because it's one of the Happiest Places to Be. I love feeling like a kid again and visiting a whole new world.:cool1:

I remember some of the happiest times of my young life being spent at Disney World with my gramma, grampa and my mom. I remember, what seemed like a hundred years, in our yellow station wagon and eventually green cadillac coming from Ft. Lauderdale ALL THE WAY to Kissimmee...LOL. I remember the Contemporary and the Polynesian, trying that weird pua (is that how to spell it?) stuff at the luau dinner and getting my toe nearly taken off by the door at the gas station on property. I remember character dinners and balloons and fireworks and the light parade.
Now, I have a 2 year old and I get to share all of those amazing feelings and memories with him. I get teary eyed the minute we step onto Main Street and as we are riding through It's a Small World.

Why do I love Disney World? Because I get to share some of my best memories of being a child with my own child and I know, someday, my son will very likely do the same thing with his children.

I love Disney for many reasons I can put just a few into words. For one I check my worries at the door as soon as I see the Walt Disney World sign. It is just a magical place. The feeling that I get when I watch wishes and look at my kids and they are so excited, is priceless. I love the fact that I feel like a kid myself, with all the excitement.

You have all said it extremely well....it is MAGICAL!!!!!!! As adults, we know intellectually that the effects around us are extremely well done entertainment special effects....but it is so easy to believe that it is magic and the effects it has on US is true magic..... Before our first trip, DH had to almost drag me there. "Oh, I don't want to go there, everything is fake...." Well, our first day at MK, we saw the spectro parade. Sleeping Beauty's godmother Merriweather waved at ME!!!!! It was so exciting, she was my favorite and she waved at ME!!!!! Now, my intellectual side knew it was a person in a costume, but that side was squashed by the 5 year old girl who was absolutely thrilled that she waved at ME!!!!!!!! (And now I am the one on the boards, listening to the podcasts and getting the email newsletters.....:)

That experience is repeated multiple times every day at WDW, in the parks, the resorts, the restaurants.....:cloud9: And there is so much to do that you can keep going often and only repeat your absolute favorites. I find that people who ask that question have never been to WDW!!!!!!!

I didn't have the best childhood, actually it was terrible.Growing up I remember Disney being so magical and it seemed so natural for normal families to go but not ours.
My husband and I tried for over 10 years after we got married for a child. Finally we were blessed with the most beautiful baby boy in 2005.God had sent him to us through adoption. From the moment he was born and i held him for the first time,I knew being a mommy was what I was born for.
Exscuse my rambling but dh and I decided this year to make our first trip to WDW for our little boy.It is "The happiest place on earth " and we wanted him to experience it.Little did we know ,how magical it would be for us too.We loved it! Not only did seeing the expressions on his face and his beautiful smile make it magical but it was everything about it.The people so friendly. The feeling of being safe.It was awesome. We can't wait to take our son again next year.Who knows by then he may get to wear a big brother shirt and we may be carrying another blessing with us.:cloud9:

As others have already stated here, so much of life is painful. We love Disney because it is such a soothing anesthesia for that pain.

To me, Disney is the only place that every girl no matter what age is a princess, and every boy is prince charming.
You will walk down a street and remember being there with a parent when you were small, or being there with your kids for the first time.
One day the girls will ride Its a Small World and find me there, just like I find my Dad there each time I ride.

Disney is to each person something that for some reason we can't actually put into words, but you will know it when you feel it. I know I have never been able to say what it is to me without crying.

I practically grew up at Disneyland, but everytime I go to a Disney park, I get ridiculously excited. For me, Disney is not about the rides. I prefer to people watch and wander with the occasional ride thrown if the mood strikes. I wish more people appreciated Disney in a "soak up the atmosphere" style instead of a "how much can we do and get our money's worth" attitude. The atmosphere is what I pay for and why I go back again and again. Thank goodness I converted my husband to this sort of thinking. We don't have any kids yet, but we are so excited to take them when we do.
We love the parades and shows and fireworks the best. In my opinion, there is nothing better than sitting on Main Street with an ice cream (or churro or dole whip) and watching the way the little kids watch the parade. When the music starts, I get goosebumps. Every time. Sometimes I cry. There is a magic at the Disney parks that you cannot find anywhere else :cloud9:
