I moved back to where I live now to be closer to family members, 20 some years ago. Now that I would like to move else where (preferably where it's warmer :sunny: ) my DH's job still keeps us here.

Why do you live where you do? :laundy:

Honestly because my son wants to graduate from his High School here. He is in the 9th grade so we still have 3.5 years to go. I honestly can't wait to get out of this town.

Mostly because of work and DH and I both grew up in NJ. We did move over the summer to get DD into a top school district. Unless something incredible comes up I can't imagine moving until DD is at least out of HS. We also like being near the shore and big cities. We're w/i an hour of so much.

Well, we are going to be buying a condo pretty soon in the same town we live in right now in our apartment. We just can't stand the thought of leaving! The school district is just so perfect for my son (visually impaired) that we don't want to risk moving him. Plus, the whole town is just very nice. Close to everything.

We had a choice of either buying a house somewhere else with lower property prices, or getting a condo here. We are choosing the condo.

After we retire though, we are going somewhere warm!

We live in our town b/c of my husbands work....but even if he didn't work in the area, I think we would still live in NH - we are actually purchasing a new house in our town - and had looked at several other towns, but ended up back very close to our current home! We also love the seasons, are only about 50min to Boston, and our families are both close. I can't see us leaving southern NH for a long time! :sunny:

Job, family, and familiarity. I was born here, and I'll probably die here. There is a small chance we may end up somewhere else in a few years... maybe. It is unlikely though. I'm okay either way. :)

hmmm where havent I lived; I have lived in many places and I am definitely not staying here.
I have lived in
Chicago (GREAT! just not for me)
Boston (absolutely loved it and miss it sooooo much. I love its rich history, the culture, the old world european feel, and of course the Red Sox)
Savannah (hated it)
Boca Raton, FL (its all right but way too suburban for me and I miss having seasons)

We are thinking that we will either head back up to Boston or move to Minneapolis. We are still young and have no kids and I love being able to experience what every city has. The culture is so different. Plus how will I know what we like best if we havent been anywhere else.

Our families are here! Free babysitting! DH still has a decent paying job here for now...

With all this, you have to ask!!!??? A little piece of HEAVEN!!!! :goodvibes

Now we live here because this is where DS goes to high school and will graduate, but I would give anything to move!

I grew up in this small town and always wanted to leave, but for one reason or another always felt trapped. When DH and I first married, we were too poor to live elsewhere, and my parents helped us so much, plus provided free childcare. Now that we can easily afford to move, we pretty much have to stay until DS graduates, and then maybe until DD graduates (if she has a good solid base of friends).

I really want to leave. Like now.

We moved here for the school district. Will we stay here, probably not. We're looking to retire one day in East Texas. I'd like to live in Washington/Oregon but doubt I'll ever get up there. I'd like to live in Colorado too.

We live here now because my DH got a fantastic job here! We love it so far! The high school is excellent, the area is gorgeous, and the people are friendly. After spending some time here and seeing how nice everyone is, my 16 year old Ds said, "Wow Mom, it's like a state full of Disneyworld employees!" I had to laugh, but I knew what he meant. It's called "Minnesota Nice!" I didn't even mention the phenomenal shopping! :woohoo:

Because in 1968 I stayed in Ft. Lauderdale for a few months and always promised myself that some day I'd live in Florida. Then I saw Disney World. The rest is history. :teeth:

attended college --> met love of my life --> found good job after graduation --> purchased small suburban home --> got married --> had kids --> moved to large suburban home in great neighborhood with excellent schools.

I firmly believe that unexpectedly landing at Towson State Univ in 1982 was the first domino to fall in a chain of events that got us to where we live now. That's why.

We moved to the Gulf Coast from Ohio two years ago to escape the snow!!! I don't think I'll ever go back, hurricanes or not....I hate the cold!

Next move, Orlando, because I REALLY want to work at WDW!

Lots of Family still here.

Love the City .But nice to be able to go to the beach or sking in less then 3 hours away.

Both have decents jobs for now but if that ever changes we will be in Orlando or somewhere in central FL.

My area just merged with Ga. & FL for some reason so I could transfer easier.DW works in Insurance so they are everywhere as well.

Because this is where we were born. This is where our families are. But someday I will live in Florida, where there isn't any snow or cold. :)

We love the schools here, family is close, DH's job is about 20 minutes from here (I work from home, so location isn't that important), there is actually DIVERSITY in our neighborhood, which is rare in this neck of the woods and I LOVE IT that my kids will grow up knowing that not everyone is the same and that that is great!

Husband's job. We have no family here at all. When he retires we hope to move back to where my family is. But that could change because the kids grew up here and probably wouldn't want to move.
