Why do YOU like the Polynesian?

I'd just like to jump back on and ask if people have stayed in Tokelau and what they thought about it... (I requested that building for my upcoming trip).

I think everyone has covered everything there is about the Polynesian.. I've been back to the Polynesian since it opened many times and one of the things I like the most is the feeling of "calm" in the evenings, around 10:00pm walking around the resort and down the beach. We all know that after a day of theme parks we all need a little extra something to help center ourselves and calm things down a little, I think the Polynesian offers that... for all of the reasons already stated. Just walk around late in the evening.. you'll understand what I mean.

We've been to the Poly twice a year for almost 3 years and didn't hear anything really bad. Once in Raratonga facing the monorail you could hear it if you sat on the balcony and really listened. It was VERY faint. You wouldn't know what was if didn't know it.

What I love most about the Poly is that while you feel like you are in another world you also know that Disney is literally right there as you can see the MK. The best of both worlds-a relaxing oasis that is right in the middle of all the action. It is impossible for me to put into words how magical it is to walk around that place at night with the tiki torches and music and hammocks and beach and castle changing colors.....

Also love the large rooms, concierge, the individual buildings-so not too many folk under 1 roof, monorail to MK or walk to direct Epcot monorail....I just love this place. And while I am tempted to try BC/YC with kids for SAB or BWI's concierge or AKL-I just can't imagine staying anywhere else.

Cannot wait to return in October and once again watch the full moon rise over the Contempory!

we havent stayed in a few years as our sons loved the pool at the Beach Club but they are older now and we are planning on our first return in years to the Polynesian besides the boys are looking forward to renting the speed boats and rideing all over seven seas lagoon again we are also looking forward to dinning at Ohana's and watching the electrical parade in the lagoon and seeing everything lite by the tiki torches besides we think the cast members are more friendly at the Polynesian and planning on supprising everyone by staying concierge

Besides everything else everyone else as mentioned you must try the bannana stuffed french toast aka Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe is absolutely wonderful. Also we loved watching the fireworks at the beach - and if you have small children who don't like the loud booms it is even more perfect - you can even see Tinkerbell.

Yes, all the reasons stated previously, in addition, for me, is that tropical feeling that just IS vacation. We've stayed at the Polynesian in Nov 02 and Dec 03 and in May 04 we walked over to see our home away from home for a stroll around the grounds. I got choked up wishing we'd chosen to stay there again. We'll be back again for two weeks in May 05. My DH has a hard time relaxing and isn't very "Disney", he loves the Polynesian too and always manages to relax and have a great time.

And the smell in the lobby, I don't know what it is, the banana leaves, the flowers, I don't know! But I do know, one day we were in Sam's Club and my five year old says "MOM! do you smell that? It smells JUST like the Polynesian!" and it DID! We both closed our eyes and stood there a minute.

The staff made us feel so welcomed, and my girls had a great time taking hula lessons (so did Mom!). In Dec we had a room in Tokelau, and if you turned your head to the right you could see Cinderella's castle from our balcony. Wishes were a little obstructed by the third floor balconies, but it was still visible!

I cried the first time we had to check out of the Polynesian, so my DH felt so bad for me he said "don't worry honey, we'll come back next year" My three year old says all the time "Momma, I miss the Pola Nesian!"

Oh I'm homesick now! Thanks to all the previous posters who let me take a little stroll down vacation memory lane!

I loved reading all the replies in this thread, I am so looking forward to staying at the Poly...the last time was November 1971.... can't wait until October 7th
