Why do you hate to cruise??

I thought of something I hate about cruising...

Getting off the ship at the end of the cruise!

My advice would be if you haven't cruised, try a short 3 or 4 day cruise. If you like it, you can book a longer one next time. If you don't then you haven't invested so much time or money into it.
This is exactly what we did. Our first cruise was a 4 day & we both loved it. Since then we have been on 2 - 7 day cruises, & another 4 day cruise. I would love to & plan to go on more.

My DH & I have been on 6 cruises and we are done. We kept waiting to like them. We don't have anything horrific to say about them but they are not the vacation for us. First off we hate organized activities and shopping so right off the bat we should have known better! I guess for us a vacation is about exploring a place and finding out about it's people and spending time exploring-nor easily done on a shore excursion! Also I don't like the fact that you do everything with alot of other people- I know you can rent a car and all that but with limited time ashore well you get the idea.I think if you like vacations that are organized for you and don't mind 2000 to 3000 other people with you all getting on and off the ship in every port, and love having a schedule for everything then I think you would love a cruise, but if you are a more adventurous traveler that wants freedom to come and go independently and see and feel what a place is really about beyind the shopping and tourist traps then I think you too will find a cruise is not your type of vacation.

Regarding the sea sickness try eating carbs. Lots of carbs. Before you go and if you feel ill. Nothing like a hard crusty roll to make you feel better. That is what I did after trying Mission: Space and it worked. DSis goes on cruises so often I have lost track and that is her trick.

I am interested to hear what others say as far as not liking cruises. My olny thing is that I don't like the group tables. I also don't like that I am not brave enough to plan my own shore excursions so I end up paying the cruiseline's marked up price.

Great answer Dejavu. Sometimes we think we're all alike. You can almost tell from the tone in some of the posts...as in "how could you not love cruising!"

We enjoy cruises. We also enjoy WDW, and we like going to new places and spending enough time there to get a feel for the area. I can easily see how some people would not enjoy cruises, and it's rather silly to insist everyone must love it. As I said earlier, I gave up on that, just as I have given up trying to convince people WDW is more than "rides for little kids."

On Royal Caribbean, if you don't like the larger tables or don't click with your tablemates, you can always go to the buffet -- with the added bonus of not having to dress up!

We enjoy cruising but DH and I hate the "set" dining times and eating with strangers. We solved those issues by taking most of our adult only cruises on either Princess (anytime dining) or NCL (Freestyle)- no set dining times or assigned seating. When we cruise DCL with our kids we deal with the set dining but we always request a table for our family alone. We are a family of 5 and have not had a problem with that request yet.

This is the opposite of what you are asking for but I'll tell you what I like about cruises.

I like traveling to different areas without having to pack and unpack and pack again. I like having the same room to come back to every night. I like being able to do as much as I want and as little as I want. I can honestly say that I've never been bored on a cruise....just the opposite. I usually do too much and feel like I need a vacation when I get home.

What I don't like? I don't like having to pay the high prices of some of the excursions. I try to find alternatives if I can. I don't like having to eat at certain times every night. For this reason, I try to choose a cruise line that has a "freestyle" plan where you can choose the time and table size to eat each night...Princess comes to mind here.

A cruise is not for everyone. I'm not crazy about Carribean cruises. I LOVED the cruises to Alaska and the Baltic capitals. DH and I are thinking about going on a Mediterranean cruise this next summer. It will be a good way to get a "taste" of the area without having to pack and repack for each city we visit.

The only thing I hate about cruising is the cost.

Well I have never cruised, however we go boating so no stranger to being on a boat.

Why I don't like it right now....
You are stuck on a boat.
Norwalk virus.
Stuck on a boat....

When I boat, I like to get off.
