Why do we have pyramids on our currency?

I've always assumed it was because
many of our forefathers were Free Masons,
and the pyramid seems to be a major symbol to them?
Just a guess....

I just read the book "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown (the same guy who did The DaVinci Code). It was about some secret cult the Illuminati. Somehow they were mixed in with the masons, and they were saying in the book that it is actually an Illuminati symbol.

I just finished the book last night, and I just searched some Illuminati websites and they do have that symbol from the dollar bill on there. Weird.

Then again the book was fiction.
