Why do we all keep going back?

Its such a magical place. Ive been to Disney World when I was little and recently just took my children to Disneyland for the first time. There is something more magical to me by seeing it through their eyes imo. Ever since weve been back Disneyland is all they talk about. When they play they pretend they are there and on the rides again and they relive every magical moment they spent there. To me this is PRICELESS. I'M so excited and can't wait to surprise them and tell them we booked another trip for December!!!! :) :)

We r celebrating 10 yrs. of Disney this November.

The whole family loves it!

We r never BORED!

Its beautiful weather in NOV.

The FOOD!

Its CLEAN!

Best Waterparks!!
Best Fireworks!!

But my husband is the big driving force behind our repeated vacations, and he says that for him Disney is the one place where he doesn't have to be in charge. He can stop being responsible, and just let someone else take care of everything. It's a HUGE stress relief for him.

When we go to other places, he's always worrying about car rentals and hotel and where we're going and what we'll do. At Disney he can let all that go. I think the only time of the year he ever really sleeps well is when we're at Disney.

I can SO relate to this!! I am the person in charge in our family -- DH and DS expect me to know everything, take care of everything, fix everything, etc. We do travel elsewhere sometimes, but it's a huge level of stress and work for me -- I have to do all the research and know all the options, etc. So while we all totally enjoy the Disney magic, for me these are truly *vacations* in ways that other trips just are not.

Confession: I used to be one of those people who did not "get" Disney people. Why go on the same vacation year after year?, I wondered. I truly didn't understand it.

Then I started researching for my first WDW trip with DH. This was the first one where *I* was in charge, and the research changed my outlook on Disney! When I was younger, my parents had always treated our many family trips there (grandparents lived in Plant City and then Daytona) like you would a trip to Six Flags. No research, never stay onsite, spent a day at MK and Epcot and that was it. Throughout college when I would visit with my sister, we did it the same way, because that was how we thought it was done.

When I started researching for my first trip as an adult, I was blown away. So much detail! So many things to do and see besides rides! Perks to staying onsite! Amazing things to eat and drink! It opened my eyes to what a magical place Disney truly is. My DH agrees with me, and while we won't have the means to visit WDW every year, we are definitely not a one and done family! We will keep going back, and I can't wait to show our possible future children that Disney is so much more than what I thought it was as a kid.

We love it and our kids love it. Two of our kids will be in college next year, so for the first time we are planning two trips in one year. We are going with our son (and he invited a friend) in November and again with our daughters in November. No one even bothers us or asks why we keep going back. They already know the answer. It is magical and it makes us happy!

I’m sure I will start to get this question soon enough. We have our 3rd trip coming up in 30 days. This will be the 2nd straight time we’ve done our summer vacation there. I thought about going to the beach for a week, but as soon as I mentioned a summer vacation the children started begging to go back and see Mickey. So I guess they are my main reason but I love that place. I haven’t even told them yet, but every time I think about getting back there I just can’t help but smile. I called in to make a payment on our room one day and “It’s a Small World” started playing while I was on hold and I just started smiling…couldn’t help it.

I agree with some other posters too about it being easy. Away from schedules and obligations and away from driving. I contemplated staying off site this time, but ended up switching to Pop Century. I’m still driving down there I think. I haven’t made the final decision as the flights have not increased at the rate I thought. I love Magical Express…love, love, love. And then checking the bags for the airport at the resort the day you come home…you can’t beat it. It is so nice to walk into our airport loaded down and know that once I check the bags, I won’t be loaded down like that until we get back there after the trip is over. If we do drive though it will still be nice to have the option of driving to the parks or not driving at all. I find that now I seek out other destinations that will allow me to get a break from driving around. I do all pick-ups and drop-offs as a single parent and I have a 30 minute commute each way for work. Oh for a week without fighting highway traffic or yelling, “GET IN THE VAN!”

And then there’s the option to pay along the way after booking. A lot of people don’t know about that and think that is just for cruises. There’s no way I could do Disney the way we have otherwise so I appreciate that.

And yes, it’s familiar. I know the children will be happy. I know they won’t be bored. I know they’ll eat fine. I love how they smile so hard I can hardly see their eyes. We even had fun last year in the tropical storm. Not that I’m hoping for a repeat of that or anything.

We keep going back because its the only vacation we've ever been on anywhere that once you enter the "disney bubble" the outside world ceases to exist. All thats good in the world is right there and there is no place I'd rather be...:cloud9:
Very well stated! For me it is simply this: Every time I leave, I leave part of my heart there, so I have to go back to get it.
We rarely get to vacation anywhere else because we spend the "big ones" every year at WDW. I wouldn't have it any other way. It is the happiest place I have ever beenpixiedust:. I cry when I get there, and I cry when I leave.

We like to go because it's an easy place to take kids and have a great time. Disney makes it very, very easy to have a good time, even when you've got little kids to deal with. I'm not sure if we'll keep going forever, but now it's definitely an annual thing.

I can so relate to this answer.:thumbsup2

It's simply wonderful at wdw.
As soon as we arrived (in 2005), we knew we were home.
Now been 10 times,trip 11 in August,just booked number 12 for 3 weeks in August 2014.:cheer2::cheer2:

I find it entertaining that many of the folks who ask me why I head back down to WDW again every year are the hypocrites who rent a beach house at the same Jersey shore location year after year. Similar to WDW, it's still the same location :confused3

And the value of WDW is better! The beach house is $3500! I usually spend $1500 for off-property. That leaves extra for fun stuff...instead of sitting in sand and swimming with jellies.

Everyone else has explained it better than I ever could, but I will say that I've been to a lot of places in my life, and nothing ever tops my first sight of the Castle, or even my first glimpse of Spaceship Earth or the Sorcerer Hat. I didn't get the same "vibe" at Busch Gardens or Great Adventure, and even though I love Knoebel's I don't find it "Magical."

There's no garbage, no real world creeping in, nothing that isn't freshly painted or lovingly preserved. There's no feeling that I might not be safe. And being there is like having the childhood I always wanted but never quite got.

Nope. 2013. Feb/Mar, Sep/Oct, Nov/Dec.

I thought you meant already in 2013. Makes much more sense that included future trips. :thumbsup2

I also love cruising, almost as much as WDW and it doesn’t have to be on DCL.

A couple of years ago, we finally splurged for the first time to get a room for 2 nights in NYC in Times Square.

I enjoy cruises too, but sometimes find myself bored on sea days. At WDW, there is never a boring moment. I've never been on DCL, only Royal Caribbean.

Times Square on New Years is on my agenda for 2014/2015. With a 3 night minimum on the hotel, I sure hope it's worth the price. It's ironic that I even want to go there considering I wouldn't go near WDW that time of year because of the crowds. :confused3

If you love fun, great food, shopping and rides there is no place better. But when you add in the atmosphere and Disney style, you cannot match it anywhere.:surfweb:

My beloved Hoosiers basketball basketball program fell on hard times after recruiting scandals several years ago. When Coach Tom Crean agreed to takeover the train wreck of a basketball program the media asked him why he would want to. His famous (at least to us Hoosier faithful) response was "It's Indiana" as if that was explanation enough.

When someone asks me why I like to visit WDW so often I think of a similar response that I feel should make the questioner fully understand, "It's Disney".

My reasons are simple.. I LOVE DISNEY WORLD!! .. It all started since 2005, I went for the 1st time for our honeymoon -- and since then I have only missed one year :( but since I have not missed once. we always make the effort and much like Beerme I'm the Wdw Addict
In the family =))) .
And it always brings back the memories of being newly married it really helps as a reset button , and the fact that we have never been to another tourist destination that pays so much attention to the comfort and care of its guests keeps us coming back .. September 2013 here we come!!

That right there says it all, for us anyway. I can let go of the real world until I'm packing my bags.
I think this is something you don't understand unless you've experienced it. One of my friends used to question me about my return trips, until he went with his family last fall. Now he wants to return (often) as well.

You might as well ask me if I get tired of Santa Claus every December! Disney is like Santa on steroids -lol. Magical x 1000!
