Why do some people run past you while in the Soarin line?

We were in Epcot last week and I was very impressed with the CM's and how they keep control over the crowds going to Soarin.

I agree. When we were haulin' it to Soarin' at rope drop last Thursday morning, I thought it was very well done and much, much safer than when we were there in February 2006. In February, it was pretty much a race to The Land pavilion and then some crowd control once you reached that point.

It's not a "mentality" per se, it's a simple emotional state of excitement that makes folks hurry to the next little bit of fun.

I've been able to curb that excitement, since I have been going to WDW for 16 years and have moved into the more comfortable Lazy-Butt Touring method, but I certainly remember the urge to run from attraction to attraction; I had that urge for years every time I was in the parks. It's the same urge that makes people accellerate to light speed as soon as the WDW entrance arches come into view, turning World Drive and West Buena Vista Drive into drag strips.

In the interest of public safety, I have always refused to act on that urge, but I certainly understand it, and I still feel it every year, though not as strongly as in years past.

I am in the lazy-butt touring stage myself, being a FL resident AP'er since 1999,so I don't have to run to get to an attraction anymore. Besides, most of the time I'm with my mother at WDW,so with her G.A.C.,we don't have to wait on lines for the fast pass rides. When I'm not with her,if a line is more than 30 minutes,I don't bother or I pick up a fast pass.

Thats as bad as something that happened this morning. I was about 10 blocks from work on a 2 lane one way road. I see this car behind dart over into the left lane (I was in the right). He kept darting back and forth between the lanes, there are several lights. When I turned into the garage at work, he was next to me! So how far did he get darting back and forth?

Well, DURN all you slow-pokes...you're in my way!!!!!
No, really, I naturally walk very fast, and it just annoys the bejeepers out of me that there's no "fast lane" for us faster walkers. I thoroughly enjoy my visit to the parks, but I like to enjoy it in 2 hours or less. I get there first thing in the morning, and walk PAST all you leisurely early morning people, get on the rides I want with no lines (you guys are still ambling around, taking in the sights), and THEN I sit on the sidelines, munching my mid-morning snackie (which I got without standing in a steenkin' line), watching all the line-standers as their toddlers hit the mid-morning nappie stage, and leave to do something else entirely. So, when you see a middle-aged woman speed-walking her way through the parks, don't judge her to be "missing out" on anything...she's just doing things her way. And, by the way, with all that speed-walking, I LOST 2 lbs on my last WDW vacation (and I love to eat, believe me!). Benefits all the way 'round.

Maybe they're just excited?! :Pinkbounc

That's exactly what I was thinking !! they might just be excited and their adrenaline was working over-time :teeth:

I love getting in the Fast Pass lane and running, skipping, and giggling with my daughter! I am just so glad to not be standing in line and feel liberated! :-) Total excitement!

Today my family & I was at Epcot & was able to get there 35 minutes before it opended, so we got to go right onto Soarin. Anyway after we had entered the Land pavilion I noticed some people were running toward the boarding area & I was wondering, what's the point of doing that? I mean if people decide to run it will only get them so far, because they will have to stop & wait until they load the next set of people.

Anyway what are your thoughts?

Good question!!! ............ .............. *******************************************ZSzeb001_ZSYYYYYYKLCA................ ........... :They have to pee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This reminded me of a trip to Kings Island in Ohio. We'd split up in the morning when we entered the park because only my oldest (then about 8) was tall enough for the 54" coasters. When they dropped the rope, we sprinted to one of the big coasters, but were stopped on the way by a security guard, who lectured us on running in the park.

After the ride, we decided to make a bathroom run. As we sprinted to the bathroom, guess who we passed? Yep - the same security guard! Right as he went to call out to us for running, we both dove into the bathrooms and you could see his face, like "uh, better not stop them now!"

When we were there earlier this month the thing that annoyed me was this family who was obviously trying to cut in line by sneaking past people. We all had to wait only 20 minutes, so it's not like it was forever. The ironic part was that the mom got separated from them and ended up way farther ahead than the dad and kid. When they caught up they sure got a dirty look.

Goes to show you what some people are teaching their kids today. @@
