Why do people want to go solo?

Mine's easy. My husband and kids were driving me nuts. I'd planned on flying to meet my sisters in Minneapolis, MN but then life got in the way and they couldn't make it.

So then I decided to try a solo trip to WDW to see things that my family never wanted to.
It was wonderful and I'm planning another solo trip in Dec. 2010 to see all the Christmas stuff. Husband and kids have no interest in touring resorts, or seeing the Christmas stuff so it should work out well.

I did my first solo trip in September and enjoyed the experience. I did exactly what I wanted, when I wanted. I started a trip report, but it didn't generate much response, but needless to say from a selfish standpoint going solo was more relaxing to me.The only downsides I experienced was eating family style (Beirgarten, Teppan Edo) if the others were not outgoing. At Teppan Edo I ate with a great bunch of people and we all had fun. At the Beirgarten the others were very quiet and did not inreact. One other aspect of being a single male that I wondered about before I left was how others, specifically families with little kids, would feel threatened by me.
I certainly enjoy taking my grown kids to WDW, but I will be doing more solo trips in the future.

WDW at Christmas should be really fun and beautiful.

I am planning my first official solo trip to WDW for 13 days and 12 nights this December. I can't wait. I am sooooo excited I don't know what to do with myself. All my dining reservations are set, I have scoped out what I want to do, if and when I might want to do it, if even at all.

We went this past August for my birthday. I was going with my best friend, but I was to arrive 3 days before her and was worried about being by myself. So when I started researching WDW and got the bug I decided to go for even longer and then drug my parents along so I didn't have to go by myself.

They were troopers and we had a great time, but I am sure there were times when they wanted to strangle me if they had to wait one more hour for an autograph or hop to one more park.

So when I heard the announcement for buy 4 get 3 free I just couldn't pass it up. I have been obsessed with Disney since we left in August and was even quite sad for a few weeks after I got home. So here I go again and the family is ok with my first ever solo trip and no one even offered to come with me. They said they would be fine without me for the holidays and to have a great time!

YAY me!!

Oh and almost forgot 3 of the most important things I want to do.

1. I am on a mission to find as many hidden mickeys as possible and to hopefully get myself mentioned in the next printing of the Hidden Mickey book :-D

2. I am looking forward to going to every resort just to see the decorations.

3. I missed 1900 Park Fare last time and can't wait to have breakfast there one day and dinner another.

For me it's a case of most of my friends do not 'understand' the Disney attraction, they would rather soak up the sun somewhere in the Caribbean, also my partner would be more interested in playing golf 24 hours a day and sulks something rotten when he can't get his own way. I've been with fellow Disney friends before and although it was fun we both had our very set ideas and things got a little 'sensitive' at times. So, I've decided to do a solo trip, I can do what I want when I want, if I want to lie in bed all morning and have room service I'll do it, if I want to get up really early and make rope drop I'll do it, the best thing is being my own boss. I will also meet up with some great Dis'ers I met earlier this year, and also some new Dis'ers.

Or...it could simply be that you DID plan to go with another person and they bailed out. So what the heck...go solo! My DD is graduating college this year and we have June plans...but if she starts a new job, those plans could be in jeopardy and if necessary...I WILL =) go solo!

My 2 DS's school marching band will be playing at Epcot in March. I keep on telling family & friends how can I NOT be with my 2 favorite people at my most favorite place! They will be traveling with the school, via a 20 hour bus ride and staying at All Star Music! On the other hand, I will fly down and hopefully stay at either the CBR or POFQ with a sweet PIN I received. It will be strange to not have the boys with me as we've always travelled together, but on the other hand, it may be nice to have a relaxed pace and meander about as I please.

I promised them I would not embarrass them during their performance or afterward. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can pull this off expense wise.
