Why do People think its okay to ruin Santa for kids? Update - p. 21, post 307

How about the ACTUAL magic of Christmas or Easter? Not some marketing campaign initiated by the Coca-Cola or JC Penny advertising departments?

And what exactly is that? Is it the same for me and my kids as it is for you and yours? Obviously not, so each family gets to decide how they will celebrate that magic. You certainly don't have the right to choose what it is for me just as I don't for you and just as that teacher didn't have the right to tell her students that their parents are liars. (Scratch that she had the right, but she lacked the intelligence to come up with an answer that was more appropriate for her students) And you know what, if my kid's public school teacher went around telling their K students that their parents were lying you definetly have parents lined up to get her fired, and while I wouldn't be with them I wouldn't be sad to see a person like that in different profession that wasn't around young kids.

I didn't do Santa growing up and we are not doing Santa for my children. But if my child ruins the Santa experience for anyone else..lets just say mommy will not be happy. It is not my place or anyone elses to ruin Santa for another child.

I would expect that people don't act like gossiping hens. If you were to tell the truth about it then so be it. If I was asked directly about it. I would tell the truth. I did what I did.

Happy C. Ann? I now fully expect you to answer each and every question asked of you on these boards now.

HOORAY! Most of you chose to lie to your kids. While at the same time, looking down on those who choose not to. Telling people they are stealing the magic of Christmas from their children. Implying children cannot have imagination when the myth isn't forced upon him.

There are people calling for this teacher to be fired? Really? And I'M the one on the high horse?
But what's the ACTUAL magic of Christmas or Easter? And how do you teach it to your children?
If it has anything to do with a child in a manger or an empty tomb I could just as easily say your lying to your children as you say I'm lying to mine...
Myths aren't lies, they are truths told to us in a way we can understand.
We don't all have the same myths, but most are teaching the same things.
It doesn't matter if you believe in Santa, Jesus, or the magical powers of Chuck Norris. You find meaning and magic in something that can't be seen.
Well except Chuck Norris. His magical powers are obvious of course.

I hear there's only one thing Chuck Norris is afraid of...

THE DIS! :lmao:

Hey OP, it's time you had a frank conversation with your children. It could go something like this:

Oh, sweetheart, I'm so sorry I have to tell you this but...your religion teacher drinks.

OMG! I love the Dis!

Between the Chuck Norris and the drinking teacher I'm :rotfl2:

Curious....why do parents feel the need to lie to their children about something mythical?

I haven't read the whole thread yet but this post got me thinking real quick about WDW and DL, we want our children to beleive in the magic. This is the forum for people who love beleiving in the magic, magic is everywhere to most of us, Disney gives us that when we get the opportunity to visit there. So why wouldn't people here want their children to beleive as long as possible? Personally I don't have the heart to tell my kids that its just a man (or woman) in that oversized mouse costume!

Do you?

Sorry but imo when you send your kid to a religion class the natural assumption would be they would teach the class from a religious aspect. this is not public school this is a religious class. You send your kid to a christian school don't complain when they say there is no Santa, it's about Jesus.

Why should she have to figure out how the parents is handling santa, her job is to teach the religious aspect of christmas. The place for kids to learn about the non christian aspects of christmas is called public school.

No way would my church be preaching the santa claus line, they wouldn't say the parents were lying but they definitely would not say that christmas is about Santa. no way.

What's next: Easter is about the Easter Bunny?

I have to agree and many Christians do not even incorporate Santa into their Christmases for that very reason.

I belong to the United Church of Canada, and Santa Claus still visits the Church every year...

And this all laughable from people who are firm belivers in Pirates and Princesses. We belong to a community board founded upon a theme park that was built to give us a place that is a fairy tale where anything is possible. Even Downtown Disney has a Santa, is that evil of Disney to give us? Or is that meant only for children under the age of 5?

I can't wait to get flamed for this post... :3dglassespopcorn::

Technically it was Mandarin... but he did do it once in Cantonese as well... but that was after he completed the formula for Pi...

If Godzilla and King Kong had an epic battle who would win?

Chuck Norris. He ALWAYS wins. ;)

time out. your friend enrolled her kid in a RELIGIOUS EDUCATION class and is upset when the teacher teaches the kid about a RELIGIOUS holiday? :confused3

Uhm sorry but Christmas is the celebration of Jesus's birthday. I'm trying to figure out why you are upset because the teacher told the truth?

Sorry OP, but if you want to teach kids about the secular celebrating of Christmas, don't send them to religious school.

Teacher is totally right.

Sorry, but I do NOT agree. I went to CCD every year through 8th grade, and had Nuns in my younger years and not once did one ever tell me "Santa isn't real." Nope, just as other PPs have said, explained the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus, etc. You can explain it that way without even mentioning the word "Santa" and without making a classroom of 7 year olds cry.

Your religion teacher believes in Jack Daniel's.
